@jep,
You should be able to cancel it but I'm not sure if there is a 'lock-in' period. Also, check if U'll haf to pay even if ur outstanding balance on the CC is RM0.00.

I never bother with all these insurance or calls from the bank; AFAIK I alwiz tell them I'm not interested tongue.gif

@David83,
I don't think ALL withheld or private numbers are fraud numbers; sometimes the bank might have subscribed to some sort of services which blocks their number - cause they don't want U to call back that number *shrugs*

@hye,
I onli get calls asking me to verify if I made a purchase on when and where tongue.gif Good riddance I don't get all these spam calls U people are getting; it'll be most annoying esp if I'm in a meeting when those calls come in *grins*

Btw the Bonus Points reflected in the statement is from the 2x Reward Points campaign MasterCard & Visa was having which I subscribed too *grins* WooHoOoo forgot all about it - ah well, I was hoping to watch the Opening of the Olympics in Beijing *siGh*

@muscaa,
Y do U think I decided to make the move to MBB Amex? *grins* The onli problem is that I'm unable to PAY utility bills through my Amex card [unless it's through direct debit and I'm not comfortable with that] and thus far, 2 merchants have rejected the card *siGh*

@muscaa,
I don't use a particular merchant often enough to find sufficient incentive for me to change CC *grins*

Admittedly, I did sign up for a HSBC CC because they had pretty good discounts at F&B joints *grins*

As to Amex - other than it being not too well accepted (I think) there's definitely NO problems; they should increase their Platinum merchants though smile.gif

@vin_ann,
If ur gonna be sending the card back to UOB, just make sure U destroy the chip first - U wouldn't know how long it'll take the bank to de-activate the card. These are chances U don't want to take.

@vin_ann,
I doubt I'm gonna be LUCKY enough to win that *frowns* I did however send in the SMS today [was writing my cheques to make payment ma] just for the 2x reward points.

The catch however is the need to swipe min 8x p/month; the min RM50 isn't an issue *grins*

@whoopa,
Y do U want a Gold card?! It really makes no difference lah; a card is a card is a card. Anyhow, just stick with ur existing bank; they'll definitely be sending u upgrades.

@TeraPox,
Not U come pick me, then send me home ah?! tongue.gif If not good then don't want to go lah - can still go to Oriental mah.. if it's just the both of us, still considered 50% discount. Alternatively, we can go to Shangri-la - haven't U received ur Amex Plat yet?

@vin_ann,
Oohh.. so it's like an upgrade?! *sorrEee I wasn't paying too much attention* Anyhow, just becareful cause sometimes it doesn't get de-activated immediately.

Just to share with U - when Citibank 'cancelled' my old Visa and issued me with another, the old Visa was still usable [and thankfully it was - if the merchant had rejected the card, I would have been super pissed with Citibank - they cancelled the card without even letting me know about it; imagine how confused I was until I figured out what happened - their CS was more confused than me!]

Apparently the old Visa would still be usable for the next 3 months - or so they say!
