I'm having a thought of getting this phone... But there are some doubts that I have. Hope the sifu's over here are able to clarrify my doubts..

1. The phone comes with a headset(ear bud type) and also another 'thingy'. *my guess is that it's a microphone* Is it possible to have some basic control over the media player such as next, pause. Or it only has volume control.

2. Next, the front camera. I read that the front camear can only be activated during 3G calls, no self-potraiting. However, is it possible to just use the cam as a mirror. Sort of like shooting urself without snapping pics. If it doesn't, has anyone found any software that can be used to overcome this problem? *since it's symbian*

3. The Os of the phone is Symbian. But there are some 3rd party symbian software which cannot run on this baby. Are there a lot of softwares that failed to run? *anyone have a list on what are able and which failed to run?*

4. How often do Samsung releases new firmwares? Are they frequent? Coz I see a lot of space for improvement but those spaces are nothing if they seldom upgrade the available firmwares.

Current retail price selling in shop is still 2.6k for FMG set. You might need to scout around in Garage Sale for better deal.

Thanks for reply. I tried the phone out at Samsung store in Gardens..pretty good. But the price there and a few outlets is RM 2899 for 8GB model.

The sales guy there recommended to check out low yat for cheaper prices (~2.5-2.6k). Going tmrw to scout.

got mine for almost 3 weeks already..its great!..superb..1 thing for sure..its fast..btw..i bought the 8gb version with 4gb mmc..im d type that uses my phone to its limit..using wifi+quickoffice while listening to the musics...battery will last from 6am to 10 pm tho..impressive...but im having trouble looking for the leather case for my innov8..ive been evereywhere..lowyat,sg wang..n even pyramid..stll no luck..where can i get it tho?..+does anny1 having trouble with its gps?..coz i hv..the gps works great..only when it connects..im using sygic mcguider v7.60.731...everytime i connect it..i always got the 'gps port not found' multiple times   ...got any solution from those who hv been using this phone for some while?......  

sometimes my phone will restart when using google maps.

anybody else experience this ?

thanx for d heads up ..ive stopped using sygic gps..now im using garmin instead..faster connection..+more accurate than sygic..the only problem now..is searching for the leather case..im a rough user...need to protect my 2.7k investmnt..   ...+ive got no problem with gmap..no restart or wut so evr..hv tried it multiple times..no restarting..*corad* shud check ur disk availability tho..u might cramped it up..just a suggestion...

Got the phone today. RM 2.5k after nego.

8gb internal + 8 gb card...extras apart from the standard set is just the screen protector and navsoft gps software and map of malaysia..gps works fine.

so far everything has been smooth, wifi and camera working alright. firmware is still the first version..but unable to update it so far..it says unable to connect to server or something. not so bothered about that at the moment.

Nice offer that you have there..I plan to purchase this phone afte CNY...

Guys, where can I get Samsung Innov8's Garmin XT plus malaysia map? And another thing is, where can I get crystal case for Samsung Innov. Been searching around but still cannot find.

Have anyone get d fone with Maxis promo? Is that worth it? Compare than N95 8GB? Which better?
