QUOTE(chesterst @ Dec 16 2019, 10:25 AM)
I have a question:
............
My concern is about the debt / utilisation ratio as charge card does not carry a credit limit per say, would it impact in any bad way? I wonder what figure appears on the CCRIS report as the credit limit for the charge card?

Please help to enlighten me. Thanks.

the CCRIS reports contains includes ...
Includes information on outstanding amount, limits, payment behaviour, arrears and legal status if any.
*This would exclude any accounts which have been fully settled.
(but it does not shows the usage..... biggrin.gif )

I know this. I would like to know how is the reporting when it comes to limit for charge card, namely amex charge card as the card does not carry a pre-set spending limit.

had never used a charge card before,....just asking about this non preset spending limit clause, is it really no limits, like let says you can theoretically buy a BMW car with it?

read this.....
"Unlike credit cards, charge cards do not have a credit limit.
Now, it is not to say that you can charge whatever you like to the card.
There will still be a “Credit Line” or some call it “Shadow Credit Limit” just like credit card’s Credit Limit.
You can always call Customer Service and ask them what is your Credit Line amount, so that you won’t be in a face losing situation when your transaction is declined because you have gone beyond the Credit Line assigned to you."

not sure about BMW but I've charged 9 suites class Singapore Airlines flight tickets to London for our family trip and there was no problem there. The shadow credit limit makes sense as there should be some element of control. I call it my magic card because it has never failed me so far!

yes, unanswered....
unless those that really knew and came to tell or
continue to wait for answers to this currently unanswered question or
maybe perhaps take some action for those
1) had the charge card
2) really wanted to know
3) go seek out a CCRIS report, see if there is any stated limits on the charge card
4) call up the charge card company to ask about the "shadow limits"
5) compare and hopefully the answer can be found.....

just my thought before going for my afternoon coffee fix smile.gif

hi guys, i bought my ctos report just for the lulz, and i found out that my cc limit in the ccris section is still my old limit. the bank doubled my limit around 4 months ago.
problem is, the outstanding amount is from last november which is more up to date. so now ctos/ccris there say my outstanding is nearly 180% over my credit limit which made the score low. ohmy.gif
already cleared all on december, now my limit utilisation is less than 5% unsure.gif
is this normal, the bank forgot to update? i just applied second cc this week, dont want to kena reject because of outdated report lei.

try CCRIS check
https://www.google.com/search?source=hp&ei=...131.M8dRV1w4eXQ

btw,...just beware of Macau scam
ex....
A 45-year-old rubber tapper from Pahang received a call from a bank officer in Kuala Lumpur. The officer claimed that the victim owed RM7,000 in outstanding card payments.

When the victim said that he had never opened a bank account in Kuala Lumpur, the officer said that the victim’s credit card was being used by someone else who had made a cash advance withdrawal.

Hi all,

i have several questions.

Previously i was enrolled in AKPK, then on end of 2018 i cleared all the outstanding debts but my CTOS shows i have a case with RHB. Cleared it but the record will be in there for 2 years so thats okay. So now i dont have any loans or cc with banks thus there is no record of me with bank. I'm 32 and whats the best way to have ccris record?

As i know im too clean to apply loan or cc if im right but any suggestion on what can i do bout it ? i have planning to buy house in the next 2 years thus i need to have records. thanks biggrin.gif

Got the answer already as I went to print my CCRIS report.

The limit reported to BNM for AMEX charge card with "no preset spending limit" is the exact amount of the outstanding balance that you carry. For example lets say you use your amex charge card for RM 300k that month, then the limit will appear as RM 300k.

However, I was told this doesn't have impact on one's credit utilisation ratio as it is a charge card and balances are always settled in full unlike credit card. So in evaluating your credit utilisation ratio, the usage on AMEX charge card is omitted altogether.

Thks for updating latest info....
So if the usage on Amex charge card is omitted altogether when evaluating one credit utilisation ratio.... Then Amex charge card outstanding balance will be omitted in the evaluation too.....??

This is what I gathered from someone I know who works in credit processing. He said it definitely does not bring a negative implication and affect the credit utilisation ratio because if it does, it will pull down the scoring greatly as it appears as if one has utilised 100% of the credit limit offered.

How does that allow people to be in debt? Charge card balance must be paid in full without fail. The moment you miss a payment, they will impose a heavy interest and your charge privilege will be reviewed.

Its akin to using debit card as you must have the amount that you spend as you don't have the option to drag the payment over a period of time.
