ohh, i noticed your Sig, do i bring my normal 18-55mm lens or 18-135mm?
dont wanna bring 2 lenses along.
*
your 18-135 covers your 18-55. i dont see the point of bringing your 18-55. in fact i would have sold one already.

Bit of both really. Gosh, I've been to many a country (mostly the southern hemisphere through), but Japan is so much more complicated!

Thanks once again to all who helped.

haha, what camera are u using? the 18-55 is too light, no balance with the camera. i usually bring about 3lenses when i go shooting, so weight hasnt been much of an issue.

maybe u could just come here and get a new lens tongue.gif

are you staying till after new years? there might be sales then.

Jeremy, 17C?

my last visit was around 7C outside narita. but that was in Dec 2004.

since u are like 3-4 person, get cheap budget hotel. recommending oak hotel > 7500yen per room , double. u get own bathroom and safe place to keep luggage. furthermore, it is near Ueno JR / keisei station (cheap train to narita 1000yen)

3) I heard there got this 'Bus and Train Pass' for tourist to travel around Japan for a 'single-payment' fees only right? May i know whats is the rate and name
JR Rail Pass is not worth it if you're just going to travel in Tokyo. It's more suited for long distance traveling in Japan. Nevertheless, there is day-pass for the usual metro bus (Tokyu Bus) which you can buy for 500 yen and it'll allow you unlimited rides for all the bus for 1 day. Also, I don't think there's actually an all-day pass for the JR lines in central Tokyo but there is one for the Tokyo Metro.
Reading back some older posts and thought of giving you my opinions as well.
*
well, metro do have day pass, but metro is subway with lots of twist and train change rclxub.gif can be tiring to change trains, especially during winter.
JR yamanote line is much easier.

jeremy, i'd suggest go kyoto first then only return to tokyo, or i'd suggest stick to kyoto only , i.e flight KUL-KYOTO-KUL. shinkansen can be quite expensive, especially with the currency rate of 100y = 3.77 now. last year Sept 07 was only 100y = 3.00. damn, shud have kept those yens..

firedaus,
what's your opinion on TENYA? for me, it is a must-visit everytime in there. cheap, filling, got a lot of chainstore. ikebukuro, akiba, asakusa.

then just bring one. yea usually 1st n 2jan they have sales everywhere. its abit different from other countries. clothing stores will like dump shirts/jeans etc for a certain size into a bag and usually sell it for 10,000yen. its quite cheap considering sometimes a shirt can be 3000 or more. at electronics store, its about the same thing, usually to clear up old stock. the only bad thing is that u cant choose...

Haha... well, that's the peak (usually on a fair sunny afternoon temp) but like right now it's currently 9 degrees outside. And it'll just get colder by the day so by end of next month ... you'll easily be looking at below 10 degrees. smile.gif

Been here for close to 2 years. Working in IT Networking field in Ohta-ku.
Yeap~ 2 weeks back we had a company trip to Nikko. It was magnificent. smile.gif

I think either Yoyogi-koen or Shinjuku Gyoen will be pretty nice now.
Might have already hit it's peak (seeing how many bare trees are around my place now) but should still be nice.

*Dug up some pics of Nikko taken 2 weeks back. smile.gif
