Clemong_888 & Samurai : I've not booked via Yahoo.co.jp before... mind sharing what are the difference with them and his-j.com?

keii-kun: Yeah, dried food or anything which is cooked & packed is fine. Just don't bring in raw meat or any form of raw, unprocessed food.

Buy ticket flight via Yahoo.co.jp..under company HIS.You buy online then print out the details..then at Narita you have to find HIS counter to collect the ticket..then check in...flight by Northwest Airline.

Flight would be best Idea..If you overnight at Chitose Aiport the security guard will chase you out at 12.00am.For another International Airport ..would be fine.

The nearest Hotel at Narita..the lowest around ¥6000 per night

6k/night isn't that expensive already IMHO ... anyway, you can buy over the counter at the airport but I definitely do not recommend it as there's issues of availability and price. Best you book in advance.

Like Samurai suggested earlier - try checking SkyMark.

Wanna ask again, anyone can give opinion on which route is the best for japan newbies? imo its route 2 but can give suggestion.

btw i am staying at sakura hotel jinbocho
1)take narita express to tokyo station, then walk to otemachi, then take hanzomon line to jinbocho

2)take narita express to shibuya station, then take hanzomon line to jinbocho

dude, pls do your research. a simple google check will find many of your answers. its definite(almost) possible to take a shinkansen ride there but its far and i think hafta use a ferry? or maybe underwater shinkansen line. i dont think there are any flights from narita to chitose, even if there are its very few. haneda is tokyo's domestic hub. and for the price, we already gave u websites to search, why not go find?

Dear Sifus

My Itinerary of 14 days in Tokyo / Osaka / Kyoto

Day 1
- Night flight from KLIA to Osaka
Day 2 to Day 8
- Hikari Shinkansen to Tokyo
- travel around Tokyo
Day 9
- Hikari Shinkansen to Osaka
Day 9 to 14
- travel around Osaka
- (Plus 1 day trip to Kyoto)
Day 14
- Back to KLIA

Should I get the 14-Day JR Pass, or is it cheaper to buy normal train ticket and the SUICA card? If I don't take the Shinkansen, what other cheaper transport to go to Tokyo and back from Osaka?

Thanks

if ure taking the shinkansen, get the JR pass. other modes of transportation, bus or normal train tongue.gif taking a night bus might save on your accomodation, though it might be tiring.

You shouldn't need to declare the items you bring as long as they're not dutiable / need to be quarantined. Also, if you're carrying some food stuffs; just tell the custom officers that they're souvenir (omiyage) and they'll usually let it go. smile.gif

As for taking pictures; sign language as suggested by Zoakies = thumbup.gif

Hmmmm ... I think you can check the prices of the Shinkansen online right? You might want to compare the total price of that against the 14-day pass.
I don't know exactly how much difference in the price it'll be but perhaps others here might have more info?
