Hurmm...from ma experiance, i think hedgie only makes few sound..
Hedgie usually do loud huffing and popping sound..This is usually because they feel intimidate or threaten... Imagine ma self walking alone in the dark and suddenly hear the sound make by hedgie....Scary wohhhh.... |

over all hedgies doesn't make sounds like dogs, birds nor gliders..
don't worry bro.. please don't forget that hedgies are nocturnal, means they will sleep during day time and eat at dusk.. |

More to nocturnal. Out of many many a few might be diurnal. Usually if hedgehogs are active during the day, they might not be feeling well, injured, sick, in pain, looking for a place to give birth. Other than that, they'll likely sleep throughout the day. Hedgehogs make several kinds of sound. - When the male is trying to mate with the female. Female will make squicking noise - When in pain. Something like sea lion sound - Hoglets crying for mother, like birds chirping - Hurfing and purfing when angry / annoyed |

Hoglets crying for mother, I heard this sound when I get my hedgehog and it start make sound at night, on that day my hedgehog didn't eat anything, so I give some mealworm that is pulled their "things" out then my hedgehog only start eat something. Maybe is too young, just 3 week old on that day.

QUOTE(chickenducksoup @ Feb 1 2009, 12:03 AM) Ermmm if i'm not mistaken hedgie in the early stage do change their quill...I'm not quite sure when they usually do that, but this is actually a process of giving some room for new and longer quill to grow...So if ur hedgie is quite young, it is normal process. Still i'm not sure enough until when do they keep on changing new quill...Then again, u need to inspect the fallen quill also...Do check the end of the quill...If the tip of the quill have kindda a hook shape, then it's ok...But if both end of the quill neither have the hook shape, then maybe there is something wrong..So, if ur hedgie is still young, and the quill tip have a hook shape, there should be no problem... But if ur still not confident, a visit to the vet should help sort everything out... |

like meento mentioned, which i think is most likely the scenario, the hedgehog should be still quilling, hedgehogs don't stop changing quills until they're over 6 months old.
btw, i'm back after one week disconnected from the cyberworld! yay! |
