Hay Guys,

I'm using ASUS EAH4850, my idle temp is 49 and on load is around 70+, my room got no aircond BUT my fan have very minimal noise. is that normal for asus card?

I did try to increase the fan to 100% speed using riva tuner but still i have to put my ear on the casing on to hear the fan. My casing is Centurion 5.

Is that normal? i mean a lot of people said the fan is very loud when the speed is at 100% but...is something wrong with my ear?

ASUS EAH4850 user please commend.

Thanks!

hah okay got the answer after some googling (note to self, google first, ask later)

http://www.rbmods.com/Articles/Asus/4850_top/1.php

"The heatsink on this card is needed to keep the TOP card stable and it also prevents you from having to listen to a loud 40 mm fan. The Glacier cooler is awesome in my eyes, it has a big fan which actually keeps the noise and temperature levels alot lower than any other card."

Hmm, guys...i'm quite curious on how the Gainward 4850 GS version manage to hit idle 40c - 45c at room temperature without air-con?

Mine is 53c - 55c at stock OC and 60% fan speed using stock cooler.

Do enlighten me more about hitting 40c - 45c idle.

lower temperature coz better cooler,
it is just simple since Gainward GS using heat pipe technology whistling.gif

As quote from wikipedia
Wikipedia

A heat pipe is a heat transfer mechanism that can transport large quantities of heat with a very small difference in temperature between the hotter and colder interfaces.
Inside a heat pipe, at the hot interface a fluid turns to vapour and the gas naturally flows and condenses on the cold interface. The liquid falls or is moved by capillary action back to the hot interface to evaporate again and repeat the cycle.

40C idle is easy on a stock 4850GS. Stock 4850GS HSF is considered "stock" or aftermarket? lol.

if stock fan sure cant reach < 45 degree idle (unless ur aircond is inside ur pc) sweat.gif

those < 45 at idle usually aftermarket cooler, like gainward GS, battle axe cooler
