The problem imagine im staying in Subang and study in Setapak.. 1hr drive from my place..

Everyday i drive there morning and evening it will jam.. Reach home also night time already..

My hamster is just normal to me.. Im glad they stop bitting me already.. Last time 1st day bring them home.. They bite me until my hand bleed..
*
I used to travel by train. Everyday for 22 stations per trip. 1 day 2 trips. So 2 hours of my time wasted. My day was composed of 22 hours only. But I still found at least half an hour a day for each of my pets.

So if I can do it, surely you can.

Hamsters at about 4 weeks to 2 months look more or less like adult hamsters. Hamsters have very short gestation periods mar. One male can impregnate many females and give birth to baby hamsters who are half siblings. Mos pet shops get their hamsters from suppliers who pair up hamsters and make them breed all year long till it die. 1 syrian can give birth to 6-12 hamsters each time. How you know if your hamster are not siblings or in anyway related? The market is full of semi related hamsters.

Do you know how hamsters arrive in pet shops? I've seen it in pet safari. sad.gif They come in wooden crates with wire for ventilation. There are many mini compartments and each tiny compartment is jammed full of hamsters that can hardly move. And stink to high heaven.

Seriously if u dun have time2 accompany them
The best solution is to rehouse them to a good owner
Dun take this as a flame or wat, do think of it if u care
Anw, u have2 be real careful with wat those petshop owner recommend u
They sell honeystar and coco crunch in pack and name it wat super hamster food and recommend hammy owner2 buy
In their eyes only got money so dun anyhw trust them

Anw, u duwan me to bring ur hammy2 vets when u go college next time?

Lol I tried feeding Bean some sprouted mung beans and she nipped my finger thinking it's one while searching for it.
My fault, i eat luncheon meat this afternoon and my hands smelled of bread and meat tongue.gif

What ryo said is true, I was there when the owner posted the pictures. This poor owner got cheated when the 'petshop' sold him kokocrunch, honeystars and some bean crackers as hamster food.

Syrians can only live ALONE. They do not die from loneliness. It's not a human, not a sugar glider, not a puppy, and definately not a human child.

When you buy them they were probably still immature, hence they still live with each other. Once they become 'adults' (hence maturity) they instinctively become loners and fight when they feel their territory is threatened.

If you really want to keep pairs, buy a dwarf. They are a different species despite similar looks. Even so, you might need to separate them permenantly as they can fight anyway.

It is vital that you put the sick hamster at least in a large plastic bin or a pail tall enough to prevent it from escaping. Put some food, fresh veggies and maybe a bowl of water
(always use the bottle if psosible, bowl/cup not safe) and tissue paper...but not for too long. Pail is too small for hamster.

If you have no space, money, or time to keep all of your hamsters, you must give them away to a good home. You have no excuse for being ignorant anymore, mind you. We've told you numerous times again and again how vital to keep all your syrians apart.

If you don't even have a pail, get those large milo tins. Anything to keep the hamster away from the rest! (don't close the lid tight or else no air laugh.gif )

IF you still say you do not have time to scoop it out and put it in a seperate holder that could be just anyhting the fella can't climb out...then sorry to say, perhaps you are not ready to keep a pet. It's like saying you don't have the time to eat, sleep or go toilet, which does happen to some people, sad.gif.

*sigh*
Solitary, friend. Solitary. If you don't know what it means, google it.

Syrians don't play with each other. Fighting is not playing.
In the meantime, please provide us with a picture just to confirm it's the right species of hamster.

Not all vets know how to treat hamsters. I don't know who is near your area...so check this post

Syrians don't get lonely. They don't play together. They're just notions that we humans put on them because we want to see our pets together happily and not lonely and sad.

If you want communal hamsters that actually like being with each other and love to play together, eat together, etc, i suggest you get robos. When one runs on the wheel, the oher would want to too. biggrin.gif So end up I had to get them a large wheel so 3 or 4 of them could run together.

Do pay heed that robos have very very high rates of being inbred in our country. So don't buy 2 at the same time from the same shop if you want to breed.

pls.. if u have time for all these questions, why not do some research on the net about Syrian hamsters?
since when Syrian hamsters like to play with each other? other ppl have emphasized on the point to separate them..
i can guarantee to u that these are true information.. so pls heed to the advices if u want a healthy pet..

By the way, i caught bean chewing on the wheel. when i have her the chewtoy, she bite a bit and then largely ignored it.

I thought of tempting her with some honey then I remembered dwarfs get diabetese very easily.
Salt is no good also

Then how to make it attractive?? She's going to chew the wheel apart if this keeps up.

i have syrians too, okay something happen a week ago which is my friend help me to clean the cage, she put the two gals together in a temporary tank. when i am home, i saw a wound on my fei fei's shoulder, skin got tear apart but luckily not too deep. applied some dettol, only a drop and it dry up the next day. that is what will happen if you house them together. a lesson for all and my friend and me for not telling her to clean the cage one by one

Hey guys, my boyfriend was playing with Roche the other day. I asked him to train her to "stand" with the treats. But when she smelled the treat, she started doing crazy stunts. Not so much as "stand". She started HANGING.

shakehead.gif laugh.gif I dunno wanna be angry with her or wat. At the end I decided her stunts were really dangerous so banned it dy. No more hanging. But took a few pictures for memory. Look at my crazy girl.

P/S: I all the pictures, my Roche is hanging on her own. My boyfriend is not holding on to her in any way but just letting her hang her leg there.

Presenting Roche, the coke loving hamster. tongue.gif  rclxms.gif

what are the nutritional differences between rats and hamsters? I thought that if lab blocks help mow down teeth and are nutrient packed...why not add it to my hamster's diet?

like how they recommend monkey chow for hams.
