I got this router for free from a friend. It is because that router is soo junk with its original firmware. Other than basic use, you cannot rely on this for additional features, but hell, it is not in the list.

Fyi, I'm in the process of setting it up, I found out it has a GUI base called WinBox which is quite user friendly to setup. The IPTV can work now, I'm still working with "oreomambo" to get the internet working, stay-tune bro! QUOTE(-pWs- @ Sep 29 2010, 01:52 PM) Beware of TP-Link-941ND ver 3.2. no I am not looking for a vlan router. I am looking for a decent router to share my printer/usb devices + bigger wifi range+ QoS. In this case the 825 fit in what my need. Asus has crappy firmware, it is just a router that only be good if u flash it to dd-wrt. I am not ready void warranty or to wait 1 year to flash it.
but there is indeed a little bit of regret for buying RB250GS. I know the winbox thing. but still, those router do not offer the usb sharing + wifi. Since I already have RB250GS, a decent home router should be sufficient. fyi, oreomambo did mention about how to setup the vlan 500 in the unifi thread, perhaps you should check out. |

Any suggestion for a cheap & stable router that works well with DD-WRT as wireless client bridge/repeater?
I have tried both Dlink DIR-600 and Buffalo WHR-HP-G300N found out that Ralink & Atheros chipset are not working. Now looking for Broadcom based router. |

QUOTE(attap @ Nov 4 2010, 01:54 PM) Have 2 units WRT54GS and Buffalo WHR-HP-54 also working fine. Thought the newer models should perform better for such basic function Leave ur thoughts behind it's based on chipset :-)Broadcom is the best and most stable for repeaters and routers Maximum performance and high end APS and receivers go for Atheros |

Currently I'm using MikroTik RB750, been on 3 weeks without any problem, but I just hope Broadcom base dd-wrt can perform the same since I have some old units around. Appreciate some sharing here! Yes, I do notice Broadcom base is more stable for repeater on stock firmware. I've tested the following Asus : RT10 RT12 RT10+ (got it recently from LowYat at RM85) It works well on stock firmware as repeater for my base unit which runs on dd-wrt Atheros (TP-Link 941DN) or Ralink (Buffalo WHR-G300N). But somehow it doesn't really works well on repeater if flash with dd-wrt. |

So far I have no problem creating vlan.500 tagging & assign to WAN port for Atheros & Ralink routers. For Broadcom base, I've tested on Asus RT-12 & Buffalo WHR-HP-G54, can create the vlan.500 tagging but unable to assign it to WAN port.
Did you use RT-16 for your Biz5 or you use the TM stock standard DIR-615? If you use RT-16, can you create vlan.500 & assign to WAN port for the internet? |
