hie guys. Need some advance help from dd-wrt gurus.
my dad recently asked me to help him look into his office networking situation. They've just recently installed streamyx line for the office (timber production factory in melaka) and it seems that the foreign workers (china workers) are using that line to do torrenting (either bt or xunlei). While they company has no qualms letting them use the internet line, the torrenting and constant downloading has caused other users (office workers) to be unable to use the line at all as all the bandwidth has been taken up. So, i've purchased for him a buffalo WHR-300N router and going to flash it to DD-WRT. While i've been using DD-wrt myself for quite awhile, i'm still unsure about how to do advance configuration (traffic shaping and etc). I've tried configuring the QOS on my own router and seems like there's no effect. Here's the situation for the office. - The wireless will be left open, ie no password so that they can log on easily. (no other factory or offices nearby for at least 1 km) - I need a way to give each pc/laptop their own static IP address (without them having to configure themselves) and set a limit bandwidth for each ip. - it would also be great if i can totally block off p2p traffic. Thanks in advance. |

I don't think that QOS works nicely with free version of dd-wrt . Try to flash to Tomato :-) if u really need QOS features

ok.. will flash to tomato.
Does tomato QOS allow individual bandwidth allocation? how about banning p2p all together? what i know is if i block the ports, they'll just change to another port and bypass it. especially when they're using xunlei.. which is a bandwidth hogger.. |

got myself the buffalo WHR-G300N router as all the shops i went to only have that available.
I know that the G300N uses ralink chips, so can it support the tomato firmware? I've flashed it to the DD-WRT SP24sp2 Pre. Still trying to figure out how to shape the p2p traffic... one idea that i have is that i put access restriction on an ip range, say from 192.168.1.50 - 192.168.1.100 and set the DHCP ip range to that range. But by just simply configuring a static ip on their laptop, the workers would then be able to just circumvent the ip range restriction... Any idea how to resolve this? |

i'm fed up with trying to configure the router to filter p2p.
in the end, decided to use this iptable command to block all ports except http, https, ftp, and msn. CODE iptables -I FORWARD 1 -p tcp -m multiport --dport 21,80,443 -j ACCEPT iptables -I FORWARD 2 -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT iptables -I FORWARD 3 -j DROP problem is, my boss (dad) wants it to be set on a timer so that it'll only take effect during office hours and after office hours, the china workers can use the line as normal. they call download all they want and fight for the bandwidth themselves. Is there a command/script to do that? If yes, please advice. This post has been edited by raist86: Aug 10 2009, 10:33 PM |

dude... dont u dare use the f*** word with tht stupid smile of urs... its not funny k.
if u take sumetime check the link i gave, u wud understand. the tutorials are not all up to date. And it is not user friendly for noobs like me. I really cant understand this statement. So can u explain to me how to do this please. Otherwise, dont bother reply. QUOTE Part 1 (setting your router to send the traffic information to a local PC): The first thing you need to do is go to the "Administration" tab of DD-WRT and then the "Services" sub-tab. Look for the "RFlow / MACupd" section. Enable RFlow and MACupd . Set the "Server IP" to the IP address of the computer on your network that will be gathering the data. There also will be options for a "Port", "Interface", and "Interval". Just leave those at the defaults. Click "Save Settings" at the bottom of the screen. Now your router should be sending packets to the computer with the IP address you specified. |
