ok cool.

Thanks! i've set the QoS on the port as well as MAC address. shud be good enuff rite?

It should be good enough, however exempt means that it is not included in shaping. So technically its exempt first... then premium and so on. Not sure why the other guy doesn't understand basic english. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/exempt

lol....thats the problem. if my english serves me well. exempt meaning it will be left untouched, as stated in their wiki as well.

but then on the lower part of their wiki, the one that i quoted from. it says that the prioritized settings will have priority over exempt. i also confused, so to be on the safe side i just made whoever i wanna give priority to have premium, then the rest go to either express or bulk. did it on both physical port and MAC address just to double confirm smile.gif

but does this take up more processing power on the router? or should i just leave physical ports as exempted, then i set the QoS on the MAC address instead. so the router only needs to process it on the MAC address, instead of processing it twice on the physical and then MAC address.

please advice! thanks!

You can try both and experience it :-)

From that you can know which one is better

You also can use rflow to monitor packets

hmmmm.....i guess i can do it ler, but abit troublesome coz i'll need to set it then monitor. so if anyone here has experience in this can just point me into the right direction?

i'm using rflow all the while to monitor the usage of each pc so i can catch the culprits.

Install a firewall like monowall so u can manage ur network more efficiently, using this setup will totally block the culprit since u only enabled the allowed ports to work smile.gif 100% effective

ohhh no, i actually dun wanna block the port totally, coz the router is in my room. if i wanna block it totally, i can just unplug the cable smile.gif it's just that my siblings are torrenting non-stop 24/7. by right policy is that torrenting can only start after 12am smile.gif

so since they don't listen, i'll have to set them to bulk and myself to Premium.

i wonder does the bittorent services in the services list of QoS works? thought of configuring that also to set at bulk.

I'm a fan of dd-wrt firmware.
i'm already flash dlink, asus and buffalo.

But never flash linksys GL.
its GL can beat buffalo?
Because i think need to change becoz buffalo WHR HP G54 is limited curently.
The price gain so high.

I'm replying on behalf of Scanart.

Our server is running under DD-WRT via Asus 520gc. I've taken screenshots as below :

its proven that ASUS WL520GC can be flashed with DD-WRTv24-sp2 MICRO,
i flashed it with success smile.gif

mine's here:

Attached Image

in order for this to work, you need:

1)be sure to downgrade to asus firmware 2.0.0.8

2)use ddwrt-v24sp2 micro with ssh version (NEWD)
