Lol. U misunderstood me. What I meant was, the test/exam style... nevermind. I just downloaded a sample test for CEH.
Thanks anyway.

Hmmm... last question for today, should I go on with my CCNA or change to MCTS or CEH or...?

Phew. Loads of reading. Felt my head wanna burst. Pening pening. Thanks clngu and others for the tips. biggrin.gif

haha. i see. The examination consists of 150 questions. Format is Conventional multiple choice. The duration of the test is 4 hours. The passing score is 70%. The examination tests you on security related concepts, hacking techniques and technology.

you should go on with CCNA, MCTS, CEH and others. unless you only want to earn little income and climb career ladder slowly. haha. just kidding.

The exam fees for CCNA 640-802 already increase from USD150 to USD250 effective from 24 June 2008.

http://www.pearsonvue.com/vouchers/pricelist/cisco.asp

USD250 is around RM 800 just to take CCNA exam alone.

Hi Cingu,

How your made it ? in six month you can aim to finish CCNA and CCNP.Another six month you finish MCSA ,MCSE etc. This consider very hard and tough challenge .You have to work daily so each day you only sleep 3-4 hours.Huh any secret recipy to share to all of us here.First how you able to manage you time to grab a cert in this short time.

Thank

sometime you have to push yourself to the limit. at that time I sacrificed my time, my entertainment, etc. I used free time to study, to hands-on, even to sleep in the office. ya. I slept around 4 hours a day. weekend also stayed in office.

however I chose the right path, the right decision. i received harvest after 18 months. now I have Cash, Car, Credit Card, Condominium, Career, Certificate, Club. is this not what you are dreaming for ???

QUOTE(Leong Forever @ Jun 24 2008, 09:14 PM)
hi Cingu,

Thanks for sharing, you really make me feel that there is still a hope for me.I have a basic degree in Comp Sci work at IT support line as system engineer for 4 hours.Experience still very green coz all the while i am working in a end user company to provide support to end user means provide the first level support in server, email ,desktop, backup etc.....The next higher level of support is usually outsource to vendor.I have senior but he is very selfish in knowledge so everything have to self swim.I found that i no luck work in IT line.Everywhere i go i have to survive myself?which i mean my senior is not helpful or no senior at all.Currently i plan to take MCSE to take add my value.

I would like to check with you in case i want to move my line to Oracle next? how should i start the initial step? As i know for Oracle database the company very seldom will hire for fresh grad as this is the critical application.Beside where can i get the course for Oracle beside Oracle Malaysia which is expensive .Kindly advice to get the OCA and OCP.Do you do your self study anyway?

Hope the better will come...smile.gif thanks icon_idea.gif

surviving is an art. some people willing to help you. some people don't. Your senior not willing to guide you, to share with you. because he scares you better than him. he has no confident about himself.

if you want to build your career in Oracle, you need to have;
1. Oracle systems for you to hands-on
2. books to refer
3. associations/experts to network with

Small and Medium Industries do hire fresh graduates to support Oracle (small scale system). even MNCs also do hire fresh graduates to assist Senior to support Oracle systems.

if you want to take OCA and OCP, you can go to Oracle Training Partners ie. CSA.

for OCA, i self-study. for OCP, I attend the course.

Depending too much on ur seniors wont take u far.
I had alot of problem coping with everyone in my previous companies since its a very rare sight for a girl to apply for technical jobs.
When I asked for help(no, not those noobs kinda questions), the guys would either be too shy, skeptical or have no confidence in sharing the knowledge with me.
Shy becoz they never met a girl before(lol).
Skeptical, whether I truthfully wanna learn or just ask questions randomly.
Have no confidence, whether I as a girl can handle the information(bleh).

Thank goodness we have the internet!!! And I have the tools to play in the office. The guys usually just let me play the old servers/desktops etc. biggrin.gif

previously female is a minority group working in IT Technical area. nowadays more and more females competing with males in every aspect of IT industry. however still a small percentage of males could not accept females can do technical jobs as good as them. this is mentality issue.

the company now I working in, has around 200 IT staffs. one of the largest IT department in Financial industry. i dealing with many colleagues, recruiting candidates (fresh graduate and experienced), train/couch/counsel/mentor/discipline them. i would say female is getting strong and even tougher than male.

Thanks for advice cingu....You are right ? this how they wanna protect themself but if they teach or guide us then he no need to do so much .Am i right? we should learn to survive as you say.Be confident with ourself  smile.gif

What you means by  3.associations/experts to network with? do you mean there is a society to join which all are in oracle line....I actually got search for vacancy where mainly of the organization need min 2 years experience for ORACLE DBA. You do self study for OCA, i was inform that for ORACLE paper they need us to attend course ? before can take exam.Is this true?

for OCA, i self-study. for OCP, I attend the course.

Hi clngu,

Any advice for someone who already work in M$ .Net programming about 5 years and wish to get as much as your salary figure?  Do you think taking M$ programming cert will help in getting better offer as charms as yours ?

Thanks for yr help smile.gif

ya. it (solid experience & professional certificate) would definitely help you in your career development. if you can acquire Microsoft Certified Professional Developer+Microsoft Certified Business Management Solutions Professional, you should be easily earn around RM8k. and if you able to gain sufficient knowledge in CMMI, your value is even greater.

clngu , im wondering if i get a BEng in Electrical and Electrical Engineering, i zzit possible for me to take IT professional certificates ? .. I mean i will not have as much related knowledge on IT .. as compared to you who graduated from BSc Computer Science. ...

whats your opinion on this ? ... what kind of certs can I seek for ?
*
ya. you can have IT professional certificates. you might need it (depends on your job scope and type of industry). I have a friend who is an electrical engineer working in oil&gas industry, using SAP system is part of his job scope. so he took SAP certificate to add value to his career portfolio.

another friend who is an electrical engineer as well. he changed his career to become IT engineer. he took network (routing and switching) certificates.

you need to find out which IT area(s) you want to excel. only then i can give my opinion.

hi clngu,

where can I obtain the resources or reading materials about MCPD exams?
I am looking to sit for a paper but I am not sure how to get the references to prepare myself for that?

As I concerned, both MPH and Kino sell certain reference book for these certification exams but not all. So, is there any other ways to obtain this?

thank you.
*
you can surf internet to get free reading materials. you can buy reference books from Amazon.com. you can attend courses to get relevant materials.

majority exam associated with Prometric and Vue. take the exam online. instant result. except CISA & CISM (at UCSI cheras), SSCP & CISSP (at APIIT Bukit Jalil). take the exam offline. 2-4 weeks to receive result.

haha. the topic is hot cause too many lost souls out there. need to be mediated.

you can join,
1. Association of Database Developers
2. Independent Oracle Users Group
3. International Oracle Users Group Community
4. Oracle Applications Users Group

normally employers stated years of relevant experience, is just a benchmark/reference. you can apply the position if you are confident you deem fit.

OCA is a level-entry certificate. no need to attend course. OCP is a professional certificate. you need to attend course and submit the Hands On Course Requirement Form.

i saw in Cisco website..exams fo CCNA have two way..
way-1 640-802 CCNA (req training for icnd1 & icnd2)
way-2 640-822 ICND1 + 640-816 ICND2

way-1 looks like 1 paper which consist of both questions from icnd1&2
or
way-2 i assume two paper & questions is separated according their focus.
so which to choose since per paper now is USD250

better take option 1. no need to sit for two papers, wasting time, energy and money. anyway it is just CCNA (1st step in Cisco certification path).

6 papers to go. how long you want to finish it?

better plan your career path now. so that you have a clear idea what to do next.

for example, 6 papers left to get MCSE. how much the total cost for exam fee, course fee if any, reading materials fee. which paper to take first and. when and where to sit for the test. after passed MCSE, what is the next certificate you want to get. repeat the steps.
