you can join,
1. Association of Database Developers
2. Independent Oracle Users Group
3. International Oracle Users Group Community
4. Oracle Applications Users Group

normally employers stated years of relevant experience, is just a benchmark/reference. you can apply the position if you are confident you deem fit.

OCA is a level-entry certificate. no need to attend course. OCP is a professional certificate. you need to attend course and submit the Hands On Course Requirement Form.

don't be a "paper" qualified IT professional. with relevant qualification, skills and knowledge, you can excel in your career. RM10k-100K per month, no problem at all.

nowadays, many industries is looking for multi-talented IT professionals. only equip yourself with technical qualification, you won't go too far. every soon you will hit bottleneck. your career is stuck. unless you are comfortable with that level of job satisfaction. in the end you just doing day-in day-out job, and you fall into second category/quorum of employee performance chart.

haha. are you happy with your current salary and position ???

ya. you can have IT professional certificates. you might need it (depends on your job scope and type of industry). I have a friend who is an electrical engineer working in oil&gas industry, using SAP system is part of his job scope. so he took SAP certificate to add value to his career portfolio.

another friend who is an electrical engineer as well. he changed his career to become IT engineer. he took network (routing and switching) certificates.

you need to find out which IT area(s) you want to excel. only then i can give my opinion.

erm, im not sure whether i will be involving in which IT field. Most probably i am looking forward to work as IC designer. Do those professional certs play a role in this career path ? ...

Also, i saw there are some management professional cert stated in previous post .. can you recommend some of the management cert which I able to take ? ... I am not sure whether to take master in business field for my postgraduate study or ... to take these professional certs .. , in order to do so, i need to know will these certs help me in my career if its not really in IT field ..

Moreover, what are the available IT fields we have in Malaysia ? ..

So, are you implying that we should obtain a mixture of technical and management qualification ? ... If so, i will be taking master in management .. or master in finance .. i dont really like to be too technical to the extent where everday I will be reading/working on the same thing for the rest of my life ... I prefer to go for management path ..

my specialty is involved Financial, Education and Vendor industries. Manufacturing not my area.

however, is best if you have Six Sigma certificate to support your career. and MBA/MSc programme to help you to move up the management ladder.

unless you want to be in technical field or be an engineer forever. if you want to take the role of managerial position, you need something else than technical qualifications.
