im gonna go for my 2nd interview in 2 weeks time.. since nobody here can advise me on the position that they are offering which is as a senior auditor.. then i'll just wait and see.. the interview will be conducted by the senior manager of that department.. Yes its true that it is boring if you keep doing the operations i.e fund accounting or etc. the only senior auditor there told me about this as she initially joined RBC as part of the operations workforce. but when I realized she leaved EY for RBC and subsequently involved internal transfer then i think i should hear what they can offer 1st.. what i know is that i dont have to rush.. I have also had a good interview with PETRONAS yesterday so hopefully it worked because I will surely go for PETRONAS over RBC;)

I'm a fresh grad, juz came back from mid valley career fair today, got an interview next week for funds accountant

They offer basic 2.3k + 500 car allowance + 750 shift allowance, the pay is attractive for a fresh grad, but after reading all the post, now i dun feel like joining them if i'm only doing repetitive work

Investment banking sounds interesting though... tongue.gif

hmm most interesting,
I'm wondering if I should choose RBC or Kenanga.

the job scope does sound repetitive but so is auditing and many CFOs often have backgrounds in Accounting and many seniors i have met in banking often have some form of accounting experience.

also given that you'll be dealing with fund managers/management, wouldn't fund accounting provide a good foundation for asset management in the future?

I eventually want to be in asset management and be a financial analyst
is fund management with RBC Dexia a good place is start at?

I do not mind slogging for a few years if it provides a good foundation for something bigger.

Hi, I went to MHFC today, I was interviewed by this sweet person, who was asking me about bonds, which I couldn't answer sad.gif, It was unexpected and I totally blanked out, anyway she gave me her no. to call back if I'm still interested, so they can give me another chance for interview, I'm wondering is it the same for you guys as well?

I'm not quite sure how much they offer for experience person since I'm only a fresh graduate applied for the same position as well . From the interview that I went last friday during the job fair at midvalley, the working hours start at 3pm until 12midnite and as for the level of interview which I read in this forum, they got 2 level of interview . the second one they said is the conference call with the upper level mgmt from other countries . hehe .

good luck smile.gif

I was asking about the position of fund accounting too. Well, since you are going for that position perhaps you shud just read on that topic as well, She told me to call her, so she can arrange for an interview. I still undecided yet

juz now i'm being interviewed by the hk guy u mentioned, we din talk bout technical stuff, juz casual chit chat like talk bout yourself, why you're interested in this job...

he's being truthful about the nature of the job, its very tedious and long process, turnover rate is high, after 2-3 months there's nothing much to learn d, but its up to you to learn from what you do everyday wink.gif

hopefully can get good news from them soon tongue.gif

hey folks,

as nasiayam said, just a normal chit chat, didn't really ask any real hard or technical questions,
the interview was more of a Q&A session for me to get a better idea of what the job entails

the interviewer was pretty realistic and frank and is quick to tell you that the operations are strictly back office and the glory and money of front office will not be found here.

honestly it does sound pretty good since you do learn about fund management from the accounting side, but at the same time, the repetitive nature and rather flat learning curve does concern me a little notwithstanding the fact that you may get placed into a 6pm to 3am shift and have no choice about it, we'll see if rbc dexia calls me back,
