in reference to http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/842867

BUDGET RANGE: below RM3.3k

Brand Preference if any: SE/HTC/Samsung

QWERTY keyboard: Yes!! (doesnt matter virtual or hardware)

GPS: Yes!!

Bluetooth: Yes!!

WIfi: Yes!!

Camera Resolution minimum: I would prefer 5Mp but a minimum 3 Mp is acceptable

Expandable Memory: Yes but if internal is 16Gb then not necessary. anything lower than 8Gb must have an expansion slot.

Touch screen: Yes!!

Extra: Can play mp3 tongue.gif

Gaming: None/minimal

Other specs are not very important. budget wise, none. all 3 are within range. i stated the price so that forumers can justify and/or rasionalize the cost for the respective phone.

well, actually, i am looking for aesthetic opinions. spec wise they all meet my requirements. That's why i'm purely looking for aesthetic opinions or personal experiences.  There are a lot of comparison out there but mostly are spec based OR compares the performance of two phones but not all three.

just wanted honest opinions/xp when comparing them. i started with a VERY big list and finally narrowed down to this 3. just need some comments about them. e.g. HTC hangs the worst compared to all 3, touch screen sensitivity between all three, the processor for X1 is the slowest, etc.

i've been going through some threads in LYN and ppl generally give comments about one particular model or at most, compare between two of them. but not all 3 of them.

anyone got any ideas? would appreciate it.

thnx in advance!!

okay, let me see what i can do to help.

firstly, i've no idea where u heard "HTC hangs worst of all" because it certainly isnt true. Its very model specific. Get a slow pda, run heavy duty stuff, sure will hang. simple as that. This applies to ANY branded device. There is no problem with HTC Touch Pro. Its a fine piece of device, and fast as well. We have no idea if SE has the 3D accelerator inside it, so we cant comment on it,

but in terms of power (3d acceleration, means gaming as well as movie viewing)

Touch Pro > Omnia

From user experience, in terms of camera clarity

Touch Pro > Omnia, despite the extra pixels, i suspect due to light exposure. nothing can be said about Xperia yet.

In terms of resolution

SE Xperia > Touch Pro > Omnia. Omnia has Quarter VGA, while Touch Pro is VGA (four times resolution). Xperia is Wide VGA. WVGA is new, so u may have problems with 3rd party compatibility.

If u wanna talk about design, its basically choose your poison. everyone has their own taste. but it should be noted that Omnia has a weird stylus placing, many of us do not like it. check it out.

I hope this helps u.

much appreciated about the comments for HTC Touch Pro and Omnia. thnx. btw, e.g. means for example.. and in this case, i was throwing random examples.. there wasnt anything personal about HTC or its performance. just giving readers an idea about the type of comments that i am looking for.

but that's the problem again. X1 is out of the equation. it is out in the market just not in malaysia yet. i have a faint feeling that X1 is gonna top it all but i dont know for sure. althought X1 is using the panels from HTC touch pro, it seems that it is faster with its dedicated memory. google it out to confirm.

although i have a budget that fits all, that doesnt mean i have to spend all of it. Value for money is more important. that's my problem.
ehmm.. someone should start a poll on this.. see what the majority prefers.. hmm.gif

anyway, thanks man.. gonna do more research on this before deciding. cya

We dont condone polling, cuz like i said, it largely heads no where. This is from past experience before the clean up, it basically became a spam heaven for post counts lol. Best of luck deciding.

Ya. HTC S740 no touchscreen.

Since you wish to get a touchscreen, settle with the P750 then

Go for tytn2, since u want qwerty with medium gaming, second hand can get.

heavy gaming = Call of Duty 2, accelerated version. Quake 3. etc. Quake 3 is hard even Touch Pro and Touch Diamond struggling. Call of Duty 2 accelerated is a good benchmark for heavy gaming for now.

for the others, i agree with dadarouch recommendations

that budget non second hand u're looking at light to medium gaming.

see Asus P320, a budget device with GPS, light gaming

HTC P3600i, abit over your budget, GPS, medium gaming

There's also several other budget devices, but those no GPS or not good for gaming so not mentioning.

U want VGA? hmmmm....HTC Only VGAs are Touch Pro and Touch Diamond. Touch Diamond second hand u can probably get at that budget maybe. But make sure its original SIS Malaysia warranty. Else dun get. lots of Touch Diamond overseas set there. can also do heavy gaming and has good camera. but no expandable memory.

forget VGA, and u got a brand new good P3600i, which i would recommend more, for newbies cuz Diamond battery dies fast. But camera 2Mp no HSDPA. Otherwise fits all your demands
