A few questions here regarding buying N85 AP set

1. Are we able to update firmware on our own? (over the air)
2. Does is come bundled with 8GB memory card?
3. Are you able to use ovi such as Nokia Maps, n-gage etc?

I have say the slider is pretty good compared to 6500s. N96 slider probably more tight than N85 but that doesn't mean it's poor. The package is same with 8gb card and the ngage stuff. I'm typing this using this phone. Using wireless. It's kinda hard to use for me due to the size of the keys. Secondly it's because i have long fingernail to use with my M600. One bad thing about the accelerometer is the dimming of the keypad when rotate to side.

I guess u just need to confirm with the seller before buying it

Just got my N85, here's the summary:

I love:
- The design and form factor
- The almighty OLED screen
- The 5MP camera
- Decent build quality
- Being an All rounder - GPS, Wifi, 3G, FM Transmitter, you name it

I loath
- A bit too thick
- Keypad is quite hard to press
- Fingerprint magnet

I heard N82 excels in taking photo, but never actually compare it (just bear in mind that N85 camera is a lot better than most of the hp camera in the market)

Btw, regarding the FM transmitter signal strength, i don't have any problem with it. Managed to hook it up to my car radio while my N85 is in d pocket biggrin.gif

Add one more here

I feel that the vibration for N85 is too strong for me that I would rather turn it off

Sorry for the late response on the slider thingy. Yes i do feel that it is indeed wobbly since the first day. But I will just live with it as to me it is not a major problem

Ironically, N85 isn't recognized by NSU now. Guess it is too early for a firmware upgrade smile.gif

By the way guys, I have updated the first post and put a temporary tagline on this topic.

Do suggest what to add, and I will help maintain it

adding on top of craxors question..

is there any recommended games too?

*i'm having trouble to set my album's image.. any idea how to do it guys?
*
Regarding the recommended games, it's very subjective
I activated Tetris (out of the 15 games) and also Star Wars (free from the package too)

With the dual slider, gaming via N85 is a real pleasure, though you should never compare with dedicated gaming device like PSP/NDS smile.gif

Guess what, NSU is able to detect N85 now.

I guess it won't be too long till the next firmware is released. A surprise christmas gift from nokia perhaps?

In PC Suite, there is a way to export your contacts as CSV file.

PC Suite only has :-

backup - do backup and restore, but cannot download/upload csv
synchronise - not using outlook/express
connect to internet
install applications
file manager - browse via windows explorer
contacts - only for creating new contacts
Messages
View multimedia
store images
Transfer music
Manage connections
*
Under contacts manager, you can use File->Export to backup your contacts in CSV format

I too have updated to firmware v11.047

So far I notice faster menu speed, and lesser time to zoom an image. Don't really have much time to test the rest yet... I will also look into GPS performance and camera performance soon.

Actually I too am not sure about the "Network" option. BTW, try disabling a-gps and see if there is still any GPRS/3G connection made

this is bcoz of ur sim card msg..the n85 treats it like new msgs..to solve this,
click on menu, then messaging, then options, then sim messages..mark all and transfer to ur inbox or any other folder..or you could just delete all the sim msgs if you dun need them..

p/s MOD should sticky this FAQ for all the new owner of n85. and good job for the rearrangement of the 1st page MOD! rclxms.gif should also list down the owner of n85 in lyn  whistling.gif  and usefull links on n85 like http://thenokiablog.com/ firmware and such..
blink.gif sry to hear that bro.. must be a bad apple in that batch of n85 release..mine almost aged 3mnth and still works like a charm. smile.gif

I have added a section called Useful links, as well as some other minor updates

As much as I would love to, I don't have time to keep track of the users list sad.gif It's great if active members like craxors and andrekua had the authority to update it sad.gif

Why not? I think there's an expiry date one, after that you wanna activate also cannot. So use it while it's free!
