11 x multipliers
It's good news for them 667mhz rams owners, coz they can go for FSB 334 X 11 = 3.67Ghz with 1:1 ratio. Only need to OC the ram a little and set the FSB @ 364 (x11) to get the magical 4ghz Anyways, upgraded LCD bro?(1080p) |

As you read in my previous post, I OC my e7400 to 3.8ghz @ 1.3v with Asus P5QL Pro.
Two days ago i got a new MB ( Asus P5Q turbo) and OC my e7400 to 4ghz, 5 hours stable on prime95 ( will upload screenshot later) The thing is, it takes 1.41v to get 4ghz stable, while it takes merely 1.29v to get stable on 3.8ghz, thats about 0.1v difference for a difference of 0.2ghz on the e7400. But I'm in the process of trying a lower vCore for 4ghz by tweaking around the vNB (NB voltage), but it proves to be challenging. I know what you guys will say, that the 4ghz isn't worth it, esp. for 24/7 usage. But i already accepted that the 4ghz is only for benching, 3.8ghz will be for 24/7 usage. |

QUOTE(-pWs- @ Dec 13 2009, 09:28 AM) Bro, are you for real?! I mean, I always feel tempted to enable those settings on 4ghz.. It makes sense that its almost perfect: to get the proc load at 4ghz and to get it to cut more/almost half of its clockspeed & multiplier while idle, this could be highly favorable regarding the e7400's lifetime.. But you confirm that is it recommended? To have both performance and life longevity Btw I think its just urban legend that you need to disable the EIST and C1E when Overclocking the CPU... probably because some people like their CPU OC'ed all the time, some people are just annoyed when the clock trottle back and forth on CPU-Z, some people speculate that it will cause instability, etc. I will try this out later, but the motivation isn't there because I know NO ONE in LY.net try it and rave about it... But because these days being green(power saving) and ecological is popular, I will heed to your suggestion pws, and enable those settings later This post has been edited by JoBigShow: Dec 13 2009, 10:37 AM |

Somehow, my board only allow me to decrease the clockspeed when idle but not vCore.
-pWs- Added on December 13, 2009, 6:44 pmJust checked it. Both clockspeed & vCore will decrease when idle. -pWs- This post has been edited by -pWs-: Dec 13 2009, 06:44 PM |

QUOTE(-pWs- @ Dec 13 2009, 01:27 PM) Somehow, my board only allow me to decrease the clockspeed when idle but not vCore. Damn, the Speedstep only available if I set my vCore to Auto, so my dream of being 'green' and energy consuming at the same time would not materialize if OC over 3.5ghz (thats so far I can OC my proc under AUTO on the vCore), but still, I haven't check whats the actual maximum clockspeed I can achieved on AUTO, so this will be my new quest. -pWs- Added on December 13, 2009, 6:44 pmJust checked it. Both clockspeed & vCore will decrease when idle. -pWs- Yeah, I think OC should not just be about attaining maximum power, but has to be 'conceptually intelligent' and futuristic by balancing eco-friendliness and power.. I believe this concept should be the future approach of OC'ing, and the future is not near, its now. Anyways, Hazairi, how you OC your proc? I got a suggestion bro, you can set your fsb to 380 and OC the ram from 667mhz to 761mhz, and set the strap to '266', therefore attaining the 1:1 ratio. But because I don't know what voltage you are OC'ing on 3.74ghz i can't say more, because its pointless to to OC to 4ghz if you exceed the Intel's spec of 13625v on the 45nm chip... OR if you decided that you are a satisfied with u'r CPU OC'ing, you can move to OC'ing the entire system performance, by tightening/lowering the PL (performance level) Because I think 3.74ghz is good enough for the E7400, OC any further(to 4ghz) yield not much difference in overall system performance, but tightening the ram, or lowering the PL does so much difference in system performance bro. |

hey guys, got a question here..
my PC got some weird problem.. when i turn on the power, it will shut down in 1 sec, n then boot up again like normal.. tis occurs if i turn off the wall socket after i shut down.. if i din turn off the socket n turn on my pc, it wont happen.. means if i off pc but din off switch, all normal.. but if i off the wall switch and turn it on later, it will show tis problem.. recently even my GC needs to restart few times, can notice from my GC LED blinks cz of no power or sth like tat.. y ah? izit cause by OC or mobo failure or PSU failure? i suspect PSU la.. if u guys not sure izit cause from OC, then i will repost this problem at /H/ Q&A.. thx guys.. |

With my ASUS mobo'ed rig, this is natural if you OC.
I always turn off the wall socket every time I turn off the my pc (yup, I luv my rig I experienced and still experiencing this for 5 months of two Asus mobo OC usage.(Asus P5QL-Pro, PQ5 Turbo) Your inquiry sounds like something very normal to Asus mobo owners or any OC'ed pc rig, but is this something very recently occurring bro? Meaning, is this the first time you actually turn off the wall socket and encounter this incident? i suspect more to PSU, cz it onli happed if i turn off the wall socket.... Man, the more I read, the more natural it sounds when a PC is OC'ed. This is because when you turn off completely, the CMOS will set the bios settings to default for safety reasons...and when you turn on the wall socket and power up the PC, the cmos will start with a default setting first for safety purposes, and when "all line is clear", it will shuts down immediately, then restore your OC settings and resumes operation. I wish this is your solution This post has been edited by JoBigShow: Dec 19 2009, 02:22 AM |
