E7400 user reporting in.

If I use a stock cooler OC to 3.49Ghz (266 x 10.5) when I ran Prime95, my temperature can reach 90+ celcius!

I bought a Coolermaster Hyper TX2 cooler, rat the test again and the temperature only reaches 62 celcius. rclxms.gif

But the idle temp for both stock and TX2 is quite the same. 42 celcius. sad.gif

i think the best i saw someone with a E7400 is 3.5Ghz @ stock Vcore n stock HSF..

as for me, i m at 3.2Ghz @ stock Vcore n HSF.. reason i stop is bcz the temperature hit 67°C at 100% load during LinX test.. don't wanna exceed the 70°C limit so i stopped..

btw, mine is a E0 stepping.. how bout yrs traveler?
*
Try change with a Cooler Master TX2 heatsink. @full load maximum temperature of 67 C can OC till 3.65Ghz.. rclxms.gif

cheapest i found now is RM130.. i noe TX2 is cheaper if i m not mistaken..
*
ic.. if can reach below 60 celcius with my settings, then with the rm130 price tag i think it's worth it! TX2 price is rm80+

aw.. i see the difference now..

mine is 66°C max @ 3.2Ghz.. yrs 58°C max at 3.5Ghz..  blush.gif hazairi 67°C @ 3.65Ghz with CM TX2

His 58C was on Core 2 Quad. U can't compare it with E7400.

Edit: oh, when i read correctly, actually he is using Core 2 Quad's HSF with E7400.. tongue.gif

guys, me just purchased a e7400 and noticed that the stock vcore is quite high; 1.30v. may i ask what is the stock vcore for this proc?
temp on idle is 45C even with BTVX. something is not right, its even higher than my previous Pentium D 930. pls advise. thx
*
Your idle temp is quite high. My idle temp even when I used the stock HSF was just 42C. Your stock vcore is high too. Stock vcore should be 1.22v. Where did u check the statistic?

bro i resolved the prob dy.
vcore went down to 1.18v after i restarted and enabled C1E in bios, together with speedstep kicks in (speedstep does not work before i enable C1E, which reads 1.30vcore and constant 10.5 multi). smile.gif
*
Good. Now try to OC your CPU. Run Prime95 test and see if it's stable. If got prob in the program, u can slowly increase the voltage..

ur not having a bad AF casing with only 4C drop. i've seen some casings with 10C difference between open and closed casing smile.gif

haha thanks. I already wondering to buy expensive casing, but then i think not all the time my CPU will load till above 70C. Maybe no need..

4Ghz@1.38v
Nice!!
Your max temp only 68C? wow! watercooling?

Anyway, here is my statistic of OC with my 7400 so far:

Speed (Ghz) - Volt-Temp (cel)-Temp (kel)- Speed/Volt
3.49 1.24 65.00 338.00 2.814516129
3.56 1.27 67.00 340.00 2.803149606
3.67 1.29 70.00 343.00 2.84496124
3.72 1.32 73.00 346.00 2.818181818

It seems that the most optimum Speed per volt is at 3.67Ghz.
