Thats why people always say, BACKUP.
Keep this etched in everyone's mind, always back-up your data. Even you as a human being write down notes incase you forgot something important. Apatah lagi mechanical-hard drive?

You won't lose your trophies, those are tied with your PSN account.

Slot the HDD into the PS3. It'll automatically format itself, you can't format the HDD yourself regardless as the PS3 uses its own proprietary format.

You can then just restore all the data that you have backup onto your new HDD.

Hi all,

I've been trying to change the hdd on my ps3 for some time now.The problem is i cant seem to find the right size screwdriver to change the screws with.Looked all over sunway pyramid, bought like 4 different screwdrivers (all relatively small enough for the screw) but it jsut wont work. Can anyone tell me what brand or size screwdriver is needed? Getting pretty impatient here.

I went to the sony centre in pyramid and asked them about it.I walked off after the guy working there said "HUH?! I didnt know you could change the HDD on a ps3?!". Idiots. ; ohmy.gif

You trying to change HDD?

I used a huge screwdriver (the + shape head). Can use, because the tips is narrow, so can turn, but don't turn too hard only.

Or you could throw the HDD bay and use SATA cable to plug the HDD yourself. This way, the HDD will be out of the PS3, though, no more hot HDD thumbup.gif

i use a screwdriver which enuf for me to open ps3 hdd screw..esp the blue screw which is very tight..but i dunt know this screwdriver size..just bought that in a supermarket in Miri(randomly..my luck) biggrin.gif

but after i compare to another screwdriver..the size shud be around Ph3(philip3) or Ph4(philip4)..and i suggest u to buy a screwdriver with bigger handle (not small2 screwdriver)..it is easier for u to loosen the screw..
