I assume when you guys say upgrade, you mean you buy the HDD from Lowyat and manually upgrade this yourself.

Does this void warranty?
Which type of HDD does it use? Laptop's or desktop's?
What's the biggest capacity supported? 1TB?

2) notebook-sized hdd (2.5" sata)
3) no known limit yet. upgraded mine to 500gb last week

Amazing, thanks for sharing the knowledge. I supposed this is DIY and not supported / endorsed by Sony Style, even when it doesnt void any warranty?

unfortunately you are wrong sad.gif

the hdd upgrade instruction is clearly described in the ps3 manual, and easy hdd upgrading ps3 is marketed by sony officials as a bullet point against other consoles.

if they really want to restrict ppl from going diy, they would have released 'official' ps3 hdd pack, with custom proprietary restriction to keep ppl from using any 3rd party unendorsed hdd.

I see, thanks a lot for the advise. I am tempted to get one but only for Final Fantasy games, others like MGS4 and more popular titles. PS3 games are still too expensive for me. Out of my league.

Thanks again! smile.gif

Yeap exactly.
No point in getting a SATA extension either as well since a 1TB 3.5" is miles cheaper.

This isn't for the PS3.

Similar reason to why someone needs 10 TB of HDD space on a HTPC.

Yes.
Although 2 platters of 500GB in a 2.5" is going to be even more expensive than this.

Enough.
As long as you don't keep every game installs that is over 3GB large in size.
