From wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DLP#The_DLP_.22rainbow_effect.22_in_single-chip_systems)

QUOTE
The DLP "rainbow effect" in single-chip systems
This visual artifact is best described as brief flashes of perceived red, blue, and green "shadows" observed most often when the projected content features bright/white objects on a mostly dark/black background (the scrolling end credits of many movies are a common example). Some people perceive these rainbow artifacts all of the time, while others say they only see them when they let their eyes pan across the image. The effect is likely rooted in the concept of the flicker fusion threshold. In some viewers the effect can lead to eye strain, headaches, or migraines after as little as a few minutes of viewing. New LED based DLPs can produce the alternating images fast enough so that most people will not be affected by the rainbow effect.

eye strain is due to distance
i only strain wen the image flash in white, i hate it, especially those flashback scenes

I think this is very important. If you can see rainbow all the time then this PJ is definitely not for u. my case is the latter where i only see it when i pan my eyes across the image.

According to dunno which statistics, only 5% of the world population can see rainbows and i think those who can see it all the time shud be lesser and those who will have headache and vomit will be much lesser.

But out of 5% me and my gf already can see it. So to be on the safe side better try it out urself.

One more thing i read on the internet, some ppl initially won't see it, but if you purposely go and find it you might find it and after u found it u're stuck with it forever hehe.

laowai, where is your location? Maybe we could arrange for a HD65 audition for you. Then, it could clear all your doubts and questions once and for all smile.gif

Wah so happy to see more and more ppl join the hd65 family. Shall we have a HD65 club where we can bring our hd65 out to show off in mamak like those PSP gathering or BMW gathering? hahaha.

Then maybe we can show how we modified the PJ or how we calibrate it hahaha tongue.gif

Not advisable to do so lah tongue.gif Those ceiling mounted HD65 will be a hassle to dismantle and fix it back again sweat.gif

No screenshots of HD65 in action by other members?

Count me out as my previous shots were all but lousy doh.gif Kak Nira is at least way better than me.

Thanks, htkaki.

Been very busy during weekend. It's great to upgrade to 720p projector after using my panasonice ae300 (540p) for so many years. rclxms.gif

First difference I see in HD65 :-
1) Contrast ratio increased
2) Details pop out more
3) Image size smaller at same throw distance - no choice 'cos ceiling mount is not moveable
4) Quieter fan noise
5) Faster startup/shutdown time

My only wish was for no.3 to be fixed, but too bad mounting is not flexible enough. cry.gif

Also too bad HDMI cable has limitations in length. Got the 10m from htkaki but not enough to comfortably go around the room. Right now, it's running hidden under sofa etc... .not neat enough. 15 meter will be just right .... 20 meter will be excellent. blush.gif

But heard long hdmi cables require adaptor/booster and cost more. cry.gif

Will try to take pics if got time.
