Over time, it will. You need to look into the developer point of view as well. Developing on PS3 platform ain't cheap and takes alot of time.

yeah, dats right. it was the rpg's that got me hook on the PSX and PS2. Gamers like ff7, xenogears, Breath of Fire series, Kingdom Hearts and Legend of dragoon, all classic rpg's that really shines in these both consoles. Sad to say that neither PS3 or the 360 have any this great rpg's stature. I chose the 360 over the ps3 because of its large game library. If the ps3 can churned out great rpg titles, im getting a system.

Im not a fanboy, i went thru a lot of gaming consoles thru my years, but the ps3 to me at the moment is rated worst next to the Saturn. If sony don't buckle up until the end of 2008, i fear that it will die an embarrassing death. But i do hope it will do great cause it has potential...

was Saturn an embarassment? i recalled it have its shares of good games? jrpgs? no need to hold your breath, JPN gamers already decided their jrpg systems -> ps2 slim + DSL.

jrpgs dont need HD-grafix and HD-Audio. 16-bit jrpgs FTW!

we are not engaging in a console war, as you can see here the discussion has been very healthy and neutral, save for a few nonconstructive replies we've received every now and then. we're not discussing about superiority of systems. we're just discussing about the PS3's unfulfilled potential and unjustified high pricing of games over the opposition.

anyway, back to topic, I really hope that the PS3 developers can maximize the potential of the PS3 and deliver us some of the great games that are trademarks of Sony's consoles, great RPGs. Imagine how great of an RPG can be put inside a 50GB blu-ray disc.

MGS4 is enough to make some people sway and get a machine just for that (like me) but it's definitely not the PS3's saving grace. the follow-ups that Sony makes after the release of MGS4 will be

i see your point...that is the problem with multiplatform games. Devs have to consider the x360 aswell when developing a game.

50gb bluray could easily make an RPG gametime over 100hours if the devs really want to put some time on making it

I do agree pc is the true next-gen, the price to pay also super next-gen

no way I'm gonna play a 100-hour storyline RPG

they can exploit the space to include heavier action sequences.. more sidequests.. that sort of thing.

but yea creating an RPG takes alot of time and effort for the developers.

It have but its hard to developed on it at that time and SEGA oredi talked about their next system when the saturn is only 2 years old, what a waste.

Sometime i feel XBOX 360 user are so d*mb.

We all knows that next-gen console is made up of new stuff.

Like last time, everybody say why bother buying PS2? Nothing good about it, just one black bulky console with no game can be played. In the end? It's one of the most wonderful console.

It's still early to judge this console. It didn't even being start to venture into 2 years yet. Give it time. XBOX360 is on different story, release early, but game still the good-old-plain graphic like PC. Let's try put MGS4 on PC, let's see what gonna happen.

People do not learn to optimise or create game or whatsoever program, in short term. They might successfully created the game on PS3, but they still do not have idea to optimise the game on the platform and cause the performance drained down.

You might say now might not be good for it, but i can bet that you will say in the next 2 or 3 years, PS3 is one goddamn wonderful console i've ever seen. Human never learn, they just wanted everything to be at it best when it released. If you think those devs doesn't do a goddamn good job enough, then why don't you create your own console and own game?

Don't forget, last time when PS2 just release, every game is smooth on it. Now? You can feel the game frame by frame especially those latest game.

Maybe it's much much more complicated as there is more complicated hardware being used. It's just early year of PS3, give it chance. Think.

Please dun dissed the PC by saying it had plain old graphic. FYI, the PC is the Ultimate gaming machine if u do it good. What happen if you put MGS 4 on the pc?? is the pc gonna explode??? The ps2 had a slow start but it didn't take almost 2 years to get great games in it.

The prob with the PS3 is that Blu-ray is still not the standard format yet. When the ps2 was launch, dvd were already the standard format. Blu-ray is way head of its time, that's why most dev have hard times developing games on the ps3.

But then it'll be safe to say when the devs are maximizing the usage of blue ray, ps3 will become much better than xbox right? Unless microsoft decided to equipped xbox with blueray player(which i dont think they will considering their rivalry with sony), sooner or later ps3 is gonna won the battle because with rapidly increasing technology, that wont be long . All we need is just patient xD. It's almost impossible for dvd to win a fully-utilized blueray.

So for now, xbox, but later surely ps3.

Well, let's look on the bright side, if ps3 fails as a gaming platform, it is still the cheapest blue ray player out there

As for me, I'll look at MGS4 as the benchmark of what a ps3 game should/could be, if it contains hours n hours of new type of gameplay n things to do n explore, heck, that alone is a value for money for me.

Maybe MGS4 is the best at gameplay and story. Graphic? I dun think so, i can find many game title graphic r much better than MGS4.

Oh i'm PC supporter too , i support Sony and PC, as both of my gaming platform are better than normal cheapskate comps lol. Anyway, certain game are not playable on PC that is released on PS3, than rather the XBOX rite?

PS2 take 1 year+ to get great games on it. PS3 haven't even touched 2 years yet. I don't think Blu-Ray is the problem for devs, it just burn and play stuff. Maybe because of sudden change from normal resolution to hi-def?

I'm not really supporting anything here laa...

Just feel annoyed it's whether Malaysian or International, always bragging about the console negative feedback when it didn't even have proper or enough time to develop yet. Always judge earlier. All those thing are just merely a comparison. Human should really change their attitude. XBOX is already out of question ler since it release, 3 years? Wah i forget this is year 2008, i tot 2007, seem like PS3 almost 2-year-old already. zzzzzzz.. Doesn't seem 7th generation console will last for 5 years this time.
