please note this is not console war discussion its just a feedback from you ps3 owners humble opinion about the extra disc space on blu-ray which is not fully utilized which makes us feel cheated..

have you guys ever wondered that you are not getting whats worth of your money on ps3 titles.. due to a fact that they are the exact same game size of their other platform (X360) which only fits on DVD size..

i sometimes feel cheated by this multiplatform gaming crapz.. which caters towards the space of the DVD limitation..

imagine GTAIV, was only for ps3, im sure the dev. can add more stuff in that 25 GB blu-ray disc compare to a DVD disc ...

QUOTE(more GtAIV example)
PS3 GTA IV needs preinstall  3GB of files even tho its on blu-ray (25GB disc)
X360 GTA IV play the game right off the batt with out any installation what so ever and its on DVD disc (4.5GB)

sigh i hate how $ony is marketing their product.. really doesnt value our money...

however on the bright side... MGS4 will be the first game to fully use up blu-ray space..and i hope to be looking forward for games like this to use the full potential of the blu-ray disc..

so next time do think twice to buy games which are multiplatform ... does it give a run for your money ? or just a plain $ony scam to their customers...

discuss here please tongue.gif

P/S: trollers and x360 fanboi pls GTFO, we want healthy discussion in here..

I agree with you.

all the multiplatform games offer no improvement over their Xbox 360 counterpart despite having more space on offer, and the pricing for the PS3 version is always higher than the Xbox 360.

that's why I have (or rather will have) both smile.gif PS3 only for exclusives, Xbox 360 for the rest. unless if there's a significant difference in the PS3 version of a multiplatform game.

I do agree with you on that. However, games like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and EA sports franchise are also multiplatform. But i still will buy the game cos it is fun and cool. Whether they fully utilize the disc or not, we wont know either. So it really depends on the quality of the game.

Well, Sub asked whether it is worth our money to buy such multiplatform games... i would say Yes and No. It really depends on the game quality. So i gave example... Star Wars game. It is out on Xbox, PS3 and PS2. So do u think it is worth it? I think so cos it is fun and cool. And i believe there will be lots of difference among all consoles.

sub said what I wanted to say.

the question at hand isn't whether multiplatform games are worth it or not, it's whether the price difference between the PS3 version and Xbox 360 versions is justifiable or not.

of course whether we buy it or not depends on the quality. sorry to say but your reply wasn't relevant.

and based on the way things are now, there's virtually NO DIFFERENCE in the games across the consoles.

The NextGen consoles are merely a fused between pc and consoles anyway. And of course they did bind in a new technology of HD and Blu-ray players. Games arent that interesting and most games emphasized heavily on interactive and cinematic cgi scenes only. And yes everyone's sole and prime target is still Squareenix's FFXIII and versus afterall. Unfortunately it is set to release during near end of this year or probably next year.

Ask sabrina about this. She is an expert.

/OT

It is more cost-effective for the publishers to work on 360 first. It has a bigger installed userbase etc.

in what way does a big userbase leads to cost-effectiveness?

I think you meant to say it's easier to program for the Xbox 360 compared to the PS3.

what happens if FFXIII goes multiplatform... ?? i thinks the quality will be watered down to x360 limitation (DVD format ) which nerfs ps3 capabilites too right ?

Added on June 2, 2008, 12:47 pmthat of coz will be the saddest news in gaming history

Publishers push the devs to work on 360 first and then ported the titles to teh CELL. Familiarity with DX-like coding and similarity to PC platform etc made it easier. The devs HAVE to optimise + learn to code on all the SPU/SPEs for the alien architecture, and this takes time. Time = money. So, why not develop for the 360 first as the lead platform?

LOL @ sabrina reference.
yeah sub said it like it is. I never really thought that much about it until now. I'm really hoping the exclusive title developers really show their A game. MGS4 and killzone 2 already stated their game definately wont fit on a DVD. It's a matter of time when the blockbuster titles start to make other people sit up and take notice. They better do.

As for multiplatform titles, it won't be too surprising to see some sort of money politics at work here. Or maybe just plain laziness. They still have some unused space from the BD media, but they might be under pressure to release the game for all platforms at the same time. The 360 version is ready to go, but they still need time to make more levels for the PS3 version. So in the end they just screw it all and release it for both. Sony from what I know didn't pay anything extra for third party developers to make more levels for the PS3 version. So...

only 2 of my ps3 games are multi-platform titles tongue.gif i think i will only buy 2 more multi-platform title this year, the rest will be all exclusives

OT: even on the 360, i tend to buy exclusives (2nd hand or discounted). actually, i just realised a small miracle. my xenon 360 was manufactured in june 2006! hurray 2 years and still working without any de-clamping or mobo reheating or fans upgrading, the most amazing miracle laugh.gif

Look at 1st/2nd party titles like Uncharted & Ratchet. Sure they look amazing, but who knows how high are the costs of producing both of them (KZ2 & LBP included). Most 3rd party publishers do not want to take risks for multiplat titles (with exeptions to a few- DIRT, COD4 for example). Why put so much effort on platform with smaller userbase anyway? Only time will tell tongue.gif

i dont think any multi-platfrom titles are "watered" down technically. do rmb, the 360 GPU is very versatile and the development tools are much better.

of course, progammers are also human. sure they can work extra hard and utililize the extra space (maybe with better audio or special featurettes like those Director's Cut DVDs). but just like most other human beings, they'll just submit the minimum (like how we used to submit minimum in our homework and assignments tongue.gif)
