It is more cost-effective for the publishers to work on 360 first. It has a bigger installed userbase etc.

QUOTE(nerd @ Jun 2 2008, 12:44 PM) in what way does a big userbase leads to cost-effectiveness? Publishers push the devs to work on 360 first and then ported the titles to teh CELL. Familiarity with DX-like coding and similarity to PC platform etc made it easier. The devs HAVE to optimise + learn to code on all the SPU/SPEs for the alien architecture, and this takes time. Time = money. So, why not develop for the 360 first as the lead platform?I think you meant to say it's easier to program for the Xbox 360 compared to the PS3. |

Look at 1st/2nd party titles like Uncharted & Ratchet. Sure they look amazing, but who knows how high are the costs of producing both of them (KZ2 & LBP included). Most 3rd party publishers do not want to take risks for multiplat titles (with exeptions to a few- DIRT, COD4 for example). Why put so much effort on platform with smaller userbase anyway? Only time will tell
