Do it slowly. When you do it all of a sudden you will frighten them. I find the key to holding a small animal is to approach it very slowly.

That's why I say it's better to train them to walk onto your hand. Then you can just lift them up when you want to and t hey'll be less frighhtened cuz they trust your hand and your scent.

And do stick around this thread. We don't have too many robo owners here.

i got bitten just now, when i tried to cup them.. at least two of them bite me  and both of them got frightened and keep running from me, like they were running for life... just like the day they came to me.. sigh 

i've been tracing threads since 3 weeks ago in this topic, to refresh my knowledge about hammies. but i couldn't get myself a real clear picture of their sexing... i even look through the old versions but still cannot get the point.

i mean i do know how to differentiate hammies from male to female, but not on ROBOs. i used to raise syrians, unquestionable, their sexing mark is remarkable OBVIOUS.

anyway, i managed to check thru the 3 siblings, yet, still looks real similar. =.=
is that both robo male and female have a genital mark looks like "jj"?? i wonder how come all 3 got... i thought female should have "vagina"?? but they all have 1 anus only =.=

at first i jz hang the tubes vertical.... tube diameter is 2.5 inch... my WW cannot climb coz too small... lolz... have to make it cerun abit so they can climb easily... kepala also sakit think of how to make it cerun coz the tube not long enough.... at last the right bin need to diy 1 higher platform so the hose can reach...

i almost have them on my palms, but i guess i frightened them every time i grab em... so sad

i knew i'm a bit hasty to grab them but i just wish to seperate them, i cant find a real obvious way to differentiate them.. other than the distance of genital and anus, is there anything i can spot?

That's a normal problem. That's why young robos are so  very difficult to sex. There was once when I sexed them wrongly and end up inbreed. But only once lar. The babies were not used for breeding. Just seperate them from the rest and be good to them till they passed away.

The obvious difference is really just the distance between the anus and also that male testicles become obvious overtime.

If you wish to tame them then don grab them.  Let them come to you. Patience, my friend. Everything will go fine.

They can mate just fine.  But inbred babies, like all other inbred animals, have weaker immune system, their fur is not as nice and their muscles will get someone shrunken. They will also remain very very small no matter what you feed them. In other words, they're not good quality hammies.

That accident only happened once. I'm not proud of my mistake. But I never committed it again.
