QUOTE(sangels @ Jun 8 2008, 05:30 PM) Fill water into the bottle till very full, try and see how. sry sangels Syrian doesn't required sand bath as they can clean themself very well. You can wipe him with a damp cloth if you want but once a week, not everyday. If you dress him up, how he going to groom himself leh??? And he will bite the strange thingy on his body as well. No. It's different. Bathing sand is finer and toilet sand is rougher. Use for different reason. WWs and robos need bathing and toilet sand, buy syrian only need toilet sand. They can be toilet train and pee in the toilet sand. It's very stressful for hamster to travel around and get use to the environment like this. Just like they just settled down in a new place, then gotta move again, gotta settle again, once settled, move again,.......on and on. For you also you'll go crazy if you move house every month. Just leave the hamster alone and let the hamster to have a normal and happy life rather than have a traveling life. It's also very wasteful to have tanks all over the places, I know you can afford, but I do think you can spend the money wisely on other good stuffs for your hamster like food and wheel. If you can afford, go for a ZooZone1 rather than a 2ft tank is even better for your hamster. Hamster not human or baby. Remember, stress can bring wet tail disease. about the keep pets like taking care baby thingy, is same cos need bring many things, food and bedding.. |

Don't think hamster will hunt crickets. We've tried with our 3 syrians. They didn't bother to touch them. But they will eat them.
Our SamSam ate the dead cricket left by our Echo our duprasi gerbil. There are pics and video in the fat-tail thread. But we didn't managed to take any pics of SamSam eating the cricket. This post has been edited by blurjoey: Jun 8 2008, 06:44 PM |

Ahh, my Winter White goes berserk over crickets, he hunts them down and chomps them up no problem. He loves them, nuff said.
Was just wondering if it's ok for their health and by reading your reply, I guess it's fine. |

Well crickets are the same as mealworms I think. They are a source for protein and fat for our hamsters.

QUOTE(neshie @ Jun 8 2008, 12:57 PM) ooo. hahaha. no brand de tend to leak easily. Even the living world brand also quite lousy. I checked living world website, they do have a better water bottle, but i don't see it in stores. It's better to get those bottles which have the spring loaded ball to prevent leakage. There are only a few brands that doesn't leak. Critter Canteen never leaks if you place correctly coz it has a spring in it. I use that. Also, you know that Genting Kelang petshop? It has these bottles.... I forgot the brand, later let you know. It has double metal balls inside, which makes it never leak too. I use that as well. Lol, cuddle themselves like how? QUOTE(Elayne @ Jun 8 2008, 01:06 PM) The water tank he is using it now got the metal ball inside but without any spring attached lor Read above, get Critter Canteen, available at Pets Wonderland, Pet Shack and I think Pet Safari also got.Hmm..not into cuddling, just he like to sleep at the corner side. Have to change his hay again, wet again QUOTE(neshie @ Jun 8 2008, 02:24 PM) My Syrians potty trained. As long you put a bowl of whatever sand, Syrians will pee and poo in it. The only hamsters that would roll in the sand are WW, RC and Robos.QUOTE(Jamien @ Jun 8 2008, 02:30 PM) Yes, you can put outside but beware, it would get eaten by squirrels, birds and even rats.QUOTE(mikelim2020 @ Jun 8 2008, 02:43 PM) aww.. 2 days neva online den so many new post d... mustnt get outcasted... i noticed posts lately are very good and helpful ! most of it bout sharing experinces.. haha, learn quite a lot.. Get a silent wheel that is about 7 inches. Those china brands.... could be small. Measure it before you buy.when i get back to subang i will by mealworms and a new wheel too.. wonder hows my candy doin... my candy seems to love the wheel so much, when i took da wheel out , she started creating havoc inside.. start biting everything... wanna destroy the whole tank ed... still thinking of which wheel to buy for her... any suggestion?? (cany is a WW) QUOTE(muchan86 @ Jun 8 2008, 02:58 PM) lalalala~~~ Yah, storage box can. You experiment and imagine a bit loh if wanna make separator.I 'm.i.g.h.t' have 1 or 2 syrian later.. LOL friend wan to give me a storage box... 2 times larger than neshie's box? if its to big~~~~ can separate into 2 cage rite? haha QUOTE(shenshenshen @ Jun 8 2008, 04:02 PM) huh...banded cinnamon?? errrr.....duno ...lol.....but to me cute la...ahahahha...so okay liau....better then RCs.....to me la....and it nvr bite.... Is a Cinnamon Banded.... seller never tell you? LOL....QUOTE(Elayne @ Jun 8 2008, 05:28 PM) Yeap, already did so. He was so curious that he stop playing with this fav rolling wheels and focusing on the toilet roll instead Biting cage bars is normal. That is why it is better NOT to keep any hamster in cages coz the cage metal produce rust. Rust with metal taste, when it reacts to saliva, is salty and causes the chewing and biting addiction. The metal would then slowly poison your hamster. He went in & out through the toilet roll already non-stop He likes to eat oh,i wonder later he will grow to become chubby hammie or not. Hehe I wonder why he started to bite the cage metal? QUOTE(neshie @ Jun 8 2008, 06:00 PM) cuteee. My parents also say the same thing. What to do? hahahah... have pets is like that lah if we wanna give them the best.LOL.. yeah, taking care of baby. my dad say i spend too much time on the hammies. OMG STEP ON UR GUPPYYY? walao.. muchan disappear from this thread liao.. cheap china wheels have less quality, in the end u have to buy again and again and again. ask ur cousin to join this thread after she get the hammiee QUOTE(liette` @ Jun 8 2008, 06:39 PM) Crickets are better than mealworms coz the protein may be slightly lower than mealworms, but it has less fat. |

Coz I saw got some long tank for sales, but mine is just mini and small and yet enough for him to drink since I noticed he don't really drink. Is that alright? Read above, get Critter Canteen, available at Pets Wonderland, Pet Shack and I think Pet Safari also got. |

Fresh juices should be fine, cause it's from fruits/vege's anyway. But if u feed them enough vege's/fruits everyday, water shouldn't be a huge problem. Experts do correct me if im wrong. Thanks. |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jun 8 2008, 11:38 PM) i have 3x Critter Canteens. Haro goldfries, haven't seen u posting in this version and the previous ones. anyways, how are your hammies? Critter canteens are good, just check petshack website, it's about RM1 more expensive than the living world one (if im not mistaken) QUOTE(shenshenshen @ Jun 8 2008, 11:38 PM) I think i read before around the hamster threads. Use toothbrush, soft ones though. There are special brushes meant for hamsters also if i'm not mistaken, kinda pricey though.http://petshack.com.my/webshaper/store/vie...ProductItem=408 << this one. |
