That fella travel up and down...that is why cant save much.....the only best way to save money are
(i) work and place of living is not far...nearer the better
(ii) Place of living should be your one or your parents one..so that can save in rent money
(iii) Eat mummy food for dinner and breakfast..if quite near go home and eat lunch.
(iv) go to work place early and come back early.

All this things helps me to save more money than people who earning much more....smile.gif

@Riddhy,
I am quite sure if ur folks are sending U $ every 3 months, they would be giving/providing u sufficient for the next 3 months. I certainly would advice against taking a credit card.

I don't see how having the mentality of "I know I will be in credit card debt" got any relation with you being international student or whatever. You said it yourself that you WILL be getting your allowances every quarter or half yearly. So where lies the problem? I don't get the need for a credit card in your case, unless there is something I missed

I second this note. Don't ever think to build a debt habit (or even have a huge debt) @ such a young age!

@Riddhy

normally, bank will charge 1.5 %pm for the outstanding amount...

Say, if u swipe RM1000 in a month, but u only pay RM100... the bank will charge you RM13.5 interest for that month...

ah.. this is the trick... alot of people will think.. wth.. it's only 13 ringgit.. i can afford that... but you have to remember, you will need to have new expenses on the following month! so say, if you swipe another RM1000 on the following month, the new statement will have a grand total of RM1913.50.

and if you still making RM100 this month, then your bank will charge you.RM27.2 for interest...its more than double, compare to the first month!

and if you pay late, they will charge you RM5 extra ontop of everything for late payment penalty...

that's why alot of people out there ended up with a serious CC debt.

@Riddhy,
I doubt ur folks will be transmitting the $ v late; they would also have made the calculations to make sure the $ they sent would last u for the 3 months.

My advice is still against getting a credit card.

For those who are oredi in debt, just cause U've managed to convert them into EPP, it doesn't mean U haf extra credit to spend. U should stop using the credit card for purchases anymore.

@Riddhy,
don't use cc if u duno how 2 control..
and for those who hv cc problem.. there's few way 4 u 2 settle ur problem..
it's juz depends ur ability..
if u think tat u can settle ur cc in a short term... i would suggest u 2 take bt.. cos the charging is vy low... some bank oni 1.5% for 6mths.. some is 0.48% per mth.. but hv 2 careful the t n c lar...
if ur hole is damn big.. then u can get a pl.. of course the interest rate wil b higher compare with bt.. but stil lower than normal cc interest..
