QUOTE(z3r0717 @ Nov 4 2008, 10:50 AM) Acrylic does not get ur AB gun clogged easily, there are few reasons y... Thanks for the tips. very helpful.. Then i guess is my AB not in good condition.. Is an old AB afterall.. Im quite certain that my mixture is always done nicely.. enough thinner... I'll explain a bit how is my AB problem:1. u din not have enough thinner in ur paint hence, paint too thick and get clog. 2. u din not clean ur AB gun properly so tat's y easily clog... Ok, let me correct ur steps... Step 1. Pre-assemble kit, sand kit, wash/wipe the dust off, spray with primer.... Primer bottles are the easiest to get clog, tat's y u must spray fast and dun leave it lying there.. the ratio for primer and thinner is 2:3, must put a lot of thinner.. remember Step 2. spray Main/Base color, there are difference for acrylic and lacquer but i found that most ppl use lacquer for AB and YES u can use industrial thinner to clean ur AB. That should be the way.. Step 3. Paneling. Do not use acrylic paint. Acrylic DOES mix with lacquer paint, i'll give a chemical reaction. Step 4. Top coat a layer. Top coats come with bottle not only spray cans... Step 5. put decals Step 6. Last layer of top coat... You're Done~ Usually when it spray... it spray nicely at first.. wide.. smooth n fine.... after just 1 minute ++... can feel d area become not as wide.. and less air can come through....So i have to press it even Deeper (Double action AB) .. but it wont get better.. as it will eventually start to spray WATER!!! thats when my model get spoil!!!! n i give up Does that mean my AB really got smthing wrong? i hv nvr try a new AB b4 so i cant tell if it is in DAMAGE condition or wat.. I have learn and do d cleaning the right way all d way. I usually will keep spraying the colour until d colour totally used out...or model finish spraying.. Will not leave it there for more than even a minute.. will wash it directly. Step 3. R u saying I should use lacquer paint for paneling too? wat i usually do for panelling on non-painted kit is..mix black acrylic with lots of thinner... then let it flow into the panel.. Wipe out the extra paint.. or scatch it off with a tooth pick since d paint is soft with thinner.. If i have a layer of colour below... will this technique affect the bottom layer? thr r so many layer - Primer+ colour + topcoat + topcoat... will thr b problem of hving the kit surface expand by 1mm QUOTE(edan1979 @ Nov 4 2008, 01:50 PM) For Mr colour Gunze.. i know there is Acrylic flat head bottle and LAcquer the head with "handle"But for Enamel? mind to explain? is it from Gunze too? QUOTE(erh_teo @ Nov 4 2008, 01:58 PM) actually acrylic can one, but the the gunze hobby acqueus one, that one quite weak, u use windex for cleaning, no affect lacquer layer. use water to dilute for washing panel line. Windex.. the floor cleaning product that can be bought from ACE? I heard b4.... So u mean that thing works to cleaning up the acrylic without affecting the lacquer layer...(with topcoat on it)... if thats true...it makes the paneling works very well... thankz! if got enamel, go for enamel. |

I remember that is a soil like brown-yellow colour to make model, what is it? i'll try to answer u... Cement, is for u to "glue" ur gundam parts 2gether to hold it permanently... walau go correct ppl grammer oso.. hahaha..
btw.. clivengu.. the panel wash u can use either enamel on acrylics or lacquer, no big issue. just that even wt enamel, during clean up wt turpentine it will still able to "wash" abit of the acrylic/lacquer but not major harm. so use turpentine sparingly. always, test if unsure. as for the ab, i think problem is prob more on ur compressor. does ur compressor equipped with air tank, or just air tank? if got air tank, check whether it's clogg with water/dirt inside. one thing i can comment on ab handpiece is when u 1st spray, observe the spray mist from nozzle n spray pattern, coz it's usu mechanical worn off that usu spoil it. if everything sprays fine, i think ur prob is more on compressor. for enamel, u may wanna get those fr humbrol or tamiya. if it's not available, the those hobby acqueus color. windex is just a window cleaner, any brand will do, and it only works for acrylic acqueus (for me i've tried gunze's one, tamiya not sure). u may wanna try 1st if not sure. for top coat, yeah as mention by z3r0717, it's done in really thin coat. no issue, if u worry, avoid spraying moveable joints, armor attachement is stil ok. spray in separate piece or whole, up to ur preference. for perfection of course separate piece, practical wise, minimal separation if possible. and for wingster.. u buy tamiya acrylic for stripping ur lacquer paint? |
