A noob question here and hope you all could help (and hope this is not a repeated question..).

Would airbrush/handpaint the model kits cover up the panel line until cannot see after the paint job? Is there precaution steps to take note if I wanna do panel lining after the painting? Eg: cut the lining deeper?

Yes, there's a risk, but more to traditional higher skill level scale model kit. If u r working mostly on Bandai's new kit, that wouldnt be a problem; cause these model kit is made to be so user friendly, until they sacrifice realism to make sure such thing wont happen.

Dont worry.

Unless u r using extremely thick paint to hand paint the kit. AB usually sont have this problem at all.

Internet is making things so convenient nowadays, but u gotta use it in z wise/clever way. Just post one open question like that is definitely not one of them.

Research! research!

Do more search. If u see anything u like, then only u can start thinking how to achieve what u want. If u dont even have a clue.....a bit susah aint it? (Nanti kena flamed by mod)

Go search.

Ok a little spoon feeding here, go check out forums for once. Eg, Zerogunz, hobbyfanatic, bakuc online, plamo etc etc.....

Here another things need info from you guys... Any idea where can get resin cast that can create resin kit?

I mean those solution/liquid that come with 2 bottles need to mix up by certain ratio and pour into cast to form the resin kit.

can get at multifilla, an art shop at balakong. google it. can also find the map at the website.

Question - do we need to use white base if we want to paint metallic color? does surfacer default color gray will effect the tone of the metallic? hmm.gif

You can try using epoxy putty instead. They do have this in stock there.

I think you should prime it so the paint will adhere to the plastic body better. Otherwise it will get rub off easily. Most people recommend a few even layers of paint to get the best result. Also let it dry in between the layers.

My question is, my panel line paints always get STUCK or unusable after lining a section with hand paint acrylic paint. Am I suppose to gloss the paint before doing the line? Already use 4 pens to do this.

And glossing for me also showed another problem. I'm using paint brush and FUTURE to gloss it. After a while it seems the paint job will smear due to mixture with the future gloss. Anyway I can go around this problem?

First of all, People who use INDUSTRIAL Spray Cans are not require to spray too many layers...
Spray with techniques because industrial spray cans are not meant for model kit use therefore the paint will get THICK easily... Becareful when using it...
Before spraying your kit, always do the basic things...
sand of the nibs of the parts with the appropriate sand paper grit...
cover seam lines of the kit....
Prime/surfacer it to check any errors or scratches still visible
then you can start painting your kit....

For doing nice and fine linings.. try washing technique wt enamel paint.
The steps are as follow:
Plastic>Primer>Paint (either can spray or mr.color/tamiya if you have airbrush)>Enamel>Topcoat clear

Note:
Paint: try to choose non-flat paint as it's tough to clean up the lining the wash if surface is matt/non-glossy
Try to avoid acrylics like Mr.Hobby or Tamiya acrylics as sometimes the turpentine used for enamel wash might be too strong to cause the paint job to smear/dissolve

Topcoat: Try acrylic topcoat (can be gloss/semi/flat, up to your own preference)

Try to search button for "enamel wash for panel lining", it's been discussed too many times in this thread.

Shenwoo, if you are using lacquers, Future should give no problem to your paint job unless you are painting with acrylics like Tamiya or Mr.Hobby (gunze sangyo water soluble accrylics).
Try switch to gaianotes or Mr. Color paint.

So you are recommending that I use lacquer as my paint base and then finish it off with Future? and then followed by enamel paint lining wash
