this lim kok thay saw I raised my hand to ask a question, but he quickly try to wrap it up as soon as one shareholder finished speaking. (At least a chance for me to speak since his eyes fell on me!) I was fed up that I forced myself to the microphone to butt in when he started talking . *sh*T him

QUOTE(sabrateur @ Jun 23 2008, 03:43 PM) Initially, that was what I thought as well. However, as I found out later, tax-exempt dividends (not to be confused with single-tier tax-exempt dividends) means that the dividends are being paid from tax-exempt profits of the company, hence the company pay out the full gross amount as net dividends, without charging from the S108 account balance. From the shareholder point of view, it is still taxable. I have double checked with my reference material ,which states that tax- exempt profits received by an individual paid out from an exempt account under the Promotion of Investment Act 1986 or under Sch.7A(5)of the Income Tax Act 1967 are exempt from taxes. Thanks for pointing this out!

QUOTE(sabrateur @ Jun 23 2008, 02:02 PM) RM0.06 is RM0.06 no matter what the par value. Unless, what u mean is 6% dividend. Sometimes they do this, instead of say 6sen dividends they say 6% dividend of par value. In this case yes it is different. But from what you said it is RM0.06 per share so it RM0.06 per share, par value does not matter. i see so the par value is only required in the calculations when the company announced the dividend amount in percentages. thanks This post has been edited by Crossbone: Jun 23 2008, 04:42 PM

From the shareholder point of view, it is still taxable. S 108 is about Tax Credit . Whenever a company pays tax, there would be a tax credit under s 108. The tax credit is to enable a company to pay dividends according to the tax paid ( amount available in the tax credit ). This applies to taxable income. This is to prevent a company from distributing dividends , before paying tax yet ( could be due large Capital Allowances ). That was before the one tier system introduced recently . http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&ct=res&cd=8...9sPN02AfnOs5RrwS 108 does not apply to Tax exempt income .Company can pay dividend in full amount. Correct me if I am wrong. This post has been edited by SKY 1809: Jun 23 2008, 09:01 PM

I've never attend AGM before because of time and location factor... Even though I'd like to attend once... But they shouldn't wrap it up so quickly when the shareholder is still raising questions and hands... It's more like Chinese style, one man show.... That's because RESORT is going down and he knows it. When a CEO, CFO, COO tries to cut the press conference short, you know the company is not in a good shape. What's there to hide? Maybe no turnaround plan? Business model is failing, etc. As a stockholder, one has the right to know where the company is going in the future. Not in Malaysia though, many companies just go IPO so that management will be billionaires.

Wow, so quiet in here today, is the market also the same? Today's rise just seems to be some small technical rebound. Airasia looks to take another beating today. Wait for the sifus to give some comment.
