rivers with currents will demand a stronger and more reliable set up
if u just fish in ponds then almost anything will suit u .. just dont use too heavy line and use small hooks

@fastreader

allocate budget around 200-300, then go get a light-mid action 6 and 1/2 feet rod pair it with a 2000/3000 series reels...

get yourself some size no 4~7 hooks.
sinker size no 5~9
line... ermm 8lbs to 20lbs mono

other stuff u need such as cutter, pen knife, float and etc ..

btw i strongly suggest you to try out pay pond instead of river.. it's dangerous man ! just like what sifu Q say ... river current is damn strong ... don't play play man.. enjoy fishing but then don't put your life on risk ok ? tongue.gif

depends on situation and species targeted... smile.gif

for example -
a) places with loads of sangkut .. float can be deploy to minimize the potential of line snag.
b) use to present live prawn for surface dwellers such as siakap and etc...

that forum is kinda slow moving now but u are always welcome to register .. hehehehe

if u fish off a bridge ... i presume u are in PG .. then i dont recall many bridges u can fish off besides PG bridge
that is not advisable ...
but if u do fish off a bridge then u will need heavier setup coz u need to haul the fish up on your line all the way up the bridge and your setup have to carry the full weight of the fish .. much heavier setup in fact
i would advise u to try off a pond or extremely slow running water 1st ...

Hey guys i heard the fishing pond near Holiday Villa at Subang Jaya closed. Is that true? It's been quite some time since I've been there. If so, are there any places in Subang Jaya to fish at? I've been going there since god knows how long =(
