I think the main reason is as usual.....Malaysian mentality of either buy a Honda or Toyota or maybe alot of Ah Bengs and Uncles in this country?? yawn.gif When we talk about Mazda 6 and Accord, yes Mazda less aggressive marketing and also because of ppl who can afford this car are usually above 30 or 40. So the chances of them buying a sporty car like Mazda is very slim..They will usually prefer a more conservative design like the Camry or Accord..Mazda targets ppl with young heart.... biggrin.gif

While we think the Mazda 6 is a better looking car, the general population of Malaysia thinks otherwise. Looks are subjective anyways

So far I dont hear anyone say Accord is a better looking car after they saw the Mazda 6. better looking than Camry? maybe.... Mazda 6? No way...
They bought it instead of Mazda 6 is because of some other reasons and definitely not the look...Did you know most of them that booked the car before it was launched actually don't even know how the car looks like? Thats the Malaysian herd mentality...

Zweim is correct in some sense, the local Mazda is not as popular as oversea probably due to poor marketing. Until today I have yet to see any TV ads promoting the new Mazda6. It is the same like Volvo Volkswagen, Peugeot, Cheverlot in Malaysia. Those 4 brands are some of the biggest brand oversea.

I think Mazda is doing a better job in Singapore than they are in Malaysia. At least I see more Mazda 2s and Mazda 3 zoom zooming around than I see Civics or Jazz.

For Mazda 6 to succeed, I think they really need to up their game with the 2.0L version and start getting more aggressive with their marketing. The way I see it, they've got a really good chance to blow past Mitsubishi and sneak up onto Nissan if they play their cards right.

In what way? You have to be more specific:

It's already known that the car handles better than the Accord 2.4 and the Camry 2.4
It's already known that the car is more silent than the Accord 2.4, not sure about Camry 2.4
It's already known that the equipment level in Mazda 6 2.5L version is better than the Accord 2.4 and Camry 2.4

The only real advantage the Accord 2.4 have is that it's a slightly larger car and argubly, LOOKS more luxurious.

Anyway, I'm interested to know what you think in the Accord is better than Mazda 6?

btw, i do really support mazda... although their brand power not as strong as honda toyota. but in term of feature and specification, mazda is not stingy like honda and toyota. the salesman attitude serving the customers also totally different from honda and toyota, they are too humble..
anyway, i do hope 1 day mazda will have CKD in malaysia, so that the price can hit those honda toyota. but honestly currently their price is consider very reasonable already in term of the spec mazda given.... juz compare M6 2.5 and accord 2.4...

For all intents and purposes, this link gives a very accurate overview of the new Mazda 6.

The only things that are not available for the Malaysia market are:

V6 version

The specs for everything else are consistently the same for the 2.4L version. Now compare with the new HM 2.4L Accord and you have a very obvious answer as to which is the better car.

The closest equivalent is called the Mazda 2 and it's not available here. Dumb decision by Bermaz or Mazda in ignoring the 70 ~ 90k market.

Buzy lah, cant make it. sad.gif

About the Mazda6 market, I still think they didnt do good marketing to local market. Just think about praise all the features it has in the TV ads and etc. I am pretty sure people will look into this car.

And Zweim is right too, the 2.0L shouldnt be selling @ 140+K, for the things it offer. It is just too close to the 2.5L ver. It should be selling like 130K. Mazda3 should be selling @ the range of 90-100K. A little bit of cheaper could make people Reconsidering from buying Honda, Toyot.a

OT: and it's proven that Mazda2 is quite good in fuel efficiency area. Will post up the article when I recall where and got time to search.
