@clawhammer,
I *think* this new regulation is quite fair. Also, banks were given at least 6-8 months [if not 12 months] to implement this so U should haf complained about this earlier, not now.

I should actually go read up on the terms tomorrow so I have more knowledge to provide more answers here smile.gif

If we're not affected, most of the things sure "OK". If government tell us LDP will increase by 200% 12 months in advance, everyone will still be upset biggrin.gif

well said.. when i was much younger i've always wanted a cc.. but never able to have one coz not qualified even tho i was working with citibank selling cc UNTIL my hubby got it for me a year ago.. i didn't went berserk with that.. i just swipe for the things i need.. what i don't understand that why ppl wantto apply for so many cards? when they max out 1 card, they apply another card to cover for the max out card.. it's like u have 8 pots but u have 7 covers.. how to cover them all??? i think the newspaper came out a news that there's many bankruptcies happening among the cc holders..

be happy with just 1 card.. no headaches.. just use 1 card and pay for 1 card.. u see now cc comes with great offers BUT do they come with no-strings attached?? if yes, then how can the bank sustain?

with cc in hand, u're spending your future money.. spend now and worry later if can't pay.. sometimes i think cc is evil.. it's supposed to make things more easier n convenience but ppl tend to abuse it *sigh*

QUOTE(yewkhuay @ May 27 2008, 01:08 AM)
haha, i don expect politician point to be mentioned here.

look, all these Convenieces never exist during urs n my parents time and they made it through , poor but no BROKE. i was poor, family was poor, i never asked for a pc lesson nor pc when my peers r learning n graduating from microsoft 95, not even a video game or so. what the kids WANT doesn;t translate to what they NEED. and never compare with other ppl when it comes to luxurious / accessaries. I WANT but I can't , so I worked my way to be able to GET what I want later, example, my camera. I do not look down at ppl who r poor and unable now, I look down at ppl who know they can't afford YET go for it.

Californians are smarter than malaysians then. for malaysian to learn n to grow up , punishment is a better way since pampering doesn't work.

@tinkerbel,
i do have extra cards but i don carry around, 2cards are enuf, even at normal credit limit of 4-5K each.

@ALL,

look at the positive side of the new rules and get used to it just like how we get used to toll hikes and petrol hikes, which deserve much more of our noise....

@clawhammer,
B realistic - toll prices will increase but it will never increase by 200% at one go! *doh*

I think someone mentioned this topic was discussed in Credit Card Thread V2 [i haven't come on board then so *shrugs* I had no idea what was shared]

Also, we aren't rich. We're just careful with our $ and responsible

@nicole_nic81,
U haf a point - credit cards are being issued to easily these days. I gave Citibank a piece of my mind when they tried upgrading my Clear Card to a Gold Card reducing my current total combined limit from RM19k to RM7k. I haven't heard from them but it doesn't matter cause I'm not planning to continue using Citibank as my primary bank.

If the cards are free, I see no harm in keeping it. I applied for the DA Gold Credit Card many years back cause it was Free For Life with no conditions attached and found use for it at last year's PC Fair - a friend wanted to get a laptop and only the local credit cards were offering 0% instalment plans so we signed it off using this DA card of mine wink.gif

@yewkhuay,
Ur right - I don't like carrying too much stuff in my wallet; it makes it bulky and I don't need so much credit limit. In fact, I carry 3 cards out; 2 Citibank & 1 UOB.

i've always tempted to get a citibank card.. don't know why.. maybe coz it's NOT a local bank tongue.gif

and banks are evil.. they increase our credit limit to encourage us to spend more! so far in a year, hsbc has increased our limit twice!

Relax, I'm just giving an example and before LDP increased 60%, no one ever thought it'll go that much either biggrin.gif Remember - Malaysia BOLEH!
I mean I do agree all of you are careful with your expenditure but by doing all these, it only makes the poor even poorer. It wouldn't help smile.gif If the intention is to help, there's something else that can be done.

@nicole_nic81,
I had sentimental reasons for keeping my Citibank card until they upset me last week *grins* Also, the only CC I have issued by a local bank is my DA Gold Card. The rest are from UOB & HSBC.

@clawhammer,
Embrace it for toll prices are expected to increase further [hopefully with the new Office it'll be delayed]. Not to mention fuel but I suppose it's a good thing for all those who's holding the DA Mastercard cause that gives a 2% rebate on all petrol purchases.

[Hey we're on a CC Thread so I had to bring in some information pertaining to this Thread or we'll be OT] rolleyes.gif

@yewkhuay,
Yeah that's so v common. The only card I do carry around with me would be Jusco card *grins*

Is it true that banks would be able to see all the credit cards (and perhaps all our loans) that we own and its credit limit ?

If this is true, is the system updated on a daily basis ? E.g the moment let's say I cancel my card today with one bank, the info would be updated on the fly and the information disappears from other banks view's almost immediately ?

Hey guys smile.gif

After reading a thread in another forum (UK-based), I found out its OK to be a credit card tart (jump from one card to another, balance transfer within 0% and go somewhere else when the period expires). Any good promotions lately for 0% balance transfer without any 'processing fee' ? biggrin.gif

Usually 0% balance transfer is promotional based and time limited. Year long balance transfer seldom offers 0%.
