@JamesPond, It doesn't hurt to do some googling on ur own u know?! Anyhow, the OCBC iQ account (or cash flow management facility) was introduced early this year. U can get more information about the account here Added on June 10, 2008, 1:53 pm@kons, MBB is my 'daily' use account. I also needed the cheque facility to make CC payments and car repayments. I also find it convenient since I could always drop by the MBB ATMs to get cash, plus most friends are using M2U so that's more convenient when we do $ transfer. I don't like the idea of MBB making all my $. I maintain a min of RM5k in my MBB Premier Account (interest only given if min balance is >RM5k) and do make sufficient interest every month to waive the RM5 fee but what's the point of keeping >RM15k in that account when I could always shift it to an account that'll give me more $ and flexibility of withdrawal. I do know the UOB High Yield Account is pretty good for that but instead of me shifting my $ from HSBC to UOB, am looking at HSBC as an alternative. Until then, I'm sticking with MBB *sigh* This post has been edited by tinkerbel: Jun 10 2008, 01:53 PM

@JamesPond, iQ Plat is probably a Junior Platinum since it requires only RM60k p/annum. U need to do a direct comparison between the OCBC Plat and the iQ Plat card to know the actual/real differences.

@JamesPond, The Titanium Card is still lower ranked than the Platinum Card. Also, the good benefit of the Titanium card is the Buy 1 Free 1 movie ticket at Cineleisure. My sister was interested in that card but got rejected twice. She decided to black list OCBC !

@kons, Am sure the bank would have checked ur credit ratings before giving u the increment. It's also another way of making U spend more. A lot of times the limit is reduced due to purchases made through installments, isn't it?

@kons, No I don't think CL will be reduced. What I mean is that for purchases made through installment plans, are they calculated based on:
1) I have RM3000 CL 2) I buy a product that cost RM1200 and repay over 12 months 3) Each month, I pay RM100
Does it mean my total available credit limit for the month is now RM3000-RM1200? Or does it remain at RM3000?
Citibank gives u a separate CL.

@jeff_ckf, On my Citibank Plat, I have a cash limit of RMX. On my Citibank MasterCard there is a (A) (B) and ©
(A) - being cash limit (B) - being limit for installment purchases © - being limit for advanced cash withdrawal or something like that
Hence total CL is supposedly to be (A) + (B) + ©. Or at least that's what my Credit Card bills says. I don't utilise (B) and © so it makes no difference to me. A friend who didn't utilise hers had the CL from the (B) and © converted into (A) for higher CL.

@kons, I don't think U update them ur details each time U get an increment right?! If U want an increase in CL then call the bank up and ask for one.

@arsenal, 0% interest on balance transfer? Or 0% interest on installment purchases?

@kons, If it's a valid and official promition those packages should work. I haven't tried it nor have I visited much of the website cause whatever I need, I usually can find better deals elsewhere. I did just come across the 60% discount off Kipling products but I don't know if it's on selected items and I've no plans of buying any bags at the moment. What other promotions do they have on the Mastercard Moments website? PS: HSBC has this 'Home & Away' program for hotel rooms; if u search hard enough, u probably can get better rates online for those rooms This post has been edited by tinkerbel: Jun 10 2008, 04:07 PM

@arsenal, U can check if the merchant of urs is linked with any 0% installment plan. If it is then U might as well go through their scheme. If they don't, U just haf to call one of ur Credit Calls and convert that plan into an installment plan; U just need to call the bank up to check on the charges - there will probably be some administrative charges incurred.

@onemilimeter, I don't know what the criterias are for waiver of annual fees but if U use ur CC frequently U should be able to get it waived; if they don't waive it for U then cancel the card [I hear most of the time they'll give u the waiver when U threaten to cancel the card - I've not tried it before so *shrugs*] As to overseas transaction, Citibank charges 1% Administration Fee for transactions made out of MY. Am surprised the Citibank Customer Service officer refused u that information because I got the information when I called them. @JamesPond, I'll check with a friend who recently got his purchases converted into a monthly instalment on which bank he used but otherwise I believe all banks would offer the same. U could check with whichever credit card ur holding This post has been edited by tinkerbel: Jun 10 2008, 04:25 PM

@kons, It is possible for trips and holidays to be a bit cheaper but I haven't found the time and budget to visit Japan a 2nd time so I didn't look at those promotions. I do know their hotel rates on the Home & Away programme isn't necessarily cheaper. Y don't U book that trip to Japan and see if it works? If U want company, I'm sure I can find the time

@onemilimeter, Am gonna use U as reference when I put my application in to Citibank `k? MBB charges 0.5% Administrative charges for overseas transactions (according to some forumer here - I haven't verified it on my own as I'm not a current MBB CC holder). You can refer to Post #1 for more information on the charges as we've accumulated them throughout here [DA & UOB does not charge. And we're awaiting HSBC to clarify if there is a charge as we've gotten different information from different departments] @JamesPond, It's on the MasterCard Moments website. And the one on the Japan trip is found here@arsenal, I just checked with a friend - he would convert his purchases to 0% instalment and usually use Citibank. However he advised to make sure U check with the bank up front esp on charges so U won't be surprised with additional surcharges, if any. Just what are U planning to buy in August?! @kons, Thank U.. Now I can consider HSBC if Citibank rejected my job application Am surprised the CS couldn't even give u good enough instructions to activate ur ATM card. And 3 torn cards?! It would have been more of an inconvenience than anything else; not to mention I wouldn't have liked the waiting period. The charges apparently are embedded as part of the forex or something like that; as in, there is no additional column to tell u, u've been charged the Administrative fees. I didn't see that on my Citibank CC bills too and found forex quite good esp if the 1% was oredi embedded in it *shrugs* Ah well, since ur an MBB holder, Y don't U call up to double check if there are Administrative fees incurred for overseas transaction - it'll be good to have someone verify that

@Godek, If the merchant hasn't tied up with any banks, U could alwiz check with the existing Credit Cards U hold; except I don't know if 36 months is applicable; mostly 12 months I hear.
On another note, I saw in the paper last night, RHB now gives 5% rebate off at petrol stations [it's applicable for 1 of their cards; I forgot]. Am not sure if there are conditions attached. I feel the Citibank Shell card is worthless for those who doesn't carry forward balance.

@vin_ann, If they want people to start using their cards, they need to give back a little more to the consumers - and other banks are oredi giving a 2% rebate... Ah well, I doubt it'll get anything more than 10% though. I don't hold any RHB CC so makes no difference to me

QUOTE(SynHeng @ Jun 11 2008, 01:04 PM) 1) If a person pay minimum payment promptly for 12 months, will he be charged 17% pa for all new transaction (no 20days free interest)? 2) If a person pay everything that he spend for 11 months, only 1 month pay minimum payment, will he be affected with new ruling as above? 1) Interest rates will be calculated based on the lowest tier; which is 15% 2) Yes the new rule will still affect him. His interest rate would also be based on the lowest tier for outstanding purchases because he's paid promptly in the last 12 consecutive months. From what I understand, so as long as U make ur payments promptly each month, the interest rate chargeable is 15%. For those who doesn't settle their bills immediately, they will start paying interest rates the moment posting is made to the bank. This post has been edited by tinkerbel: Jun 11 2008, 01:27 PM

@Aeon_Clock, I believe the new ruling starts effective 1 June 2008. Also, DA MasterCard gives 2% rebate on petrol not 1.5%. Those I know with petrol rebates off my mind, in addition to ur list are:-
1) DA MasterCard - 2% rebate on ALL petrol 2) Citibank Shell - 5% rebate on Shell petrol 3) RHB Travel Money Card - 5% rebate on ALL petrol
