@vin_ann, I see. I will check the benefits out soon. @santaclaus, CC salesperson will never be able to advise properly when it comes to Credit Limit as the banks go through a certain procedure to determine Credit Limit. At the v least, the bank didn't downgrade U like what Citibank did to me @firewir3, Lodge and official complain (in writing) and send that to MBB. Hopefully, U get a reply from them and they will expedite ur application. It's also good if U know the name of the officer who attended to u.

@jeff_ckf, The UOB One Platinum isn't really a Platinum card so it's not really a joke It's just a gimmick to make people feel good @ar188, I'm a faithful user of my Citibank Clear Card. A couple of weeks ago, I was given an upgrade to their Gold card. Upon checking, I realised my credit limit was down from RM20k to RM7k so I made lots of noise [I just needed some drama then, and I wasn't at all interested in the upgrade but muAHahAHahHAhahAHahHA nothing to do so sent Citibank a letter]. It shouldn't matter how much $ I spend but I shouldn't be downgraded for no reason. Moreover, this was supposed to be an upgrade

@jeff_ckf, But it is - it's a marketing gimmick to make their cardholders feel more special [esp those who aren't able to earn that actual Platinum card] - it's a big market...

@jeff_ckf, Just cause banks offer 'Free For Life' cards doesn't mean it's cheapo. I certainly wasn't aware that Citibank had Free For Life cards other than complementary cards issued with CitiGold accounts. I too hold a DA Gold Graduates Credit Card which is Free For Life with no conditions attached

@jeff_ckf, It's not exactly free cause if U don't use the card 2x a month, U'll be charged RM5 monthly. If U don't use the card for the entire year, U would have paid an annual fee of RM60 I'm still at present sticking with my Citi Plat but I oredi have sufficient points to redeem what I wanted so am looking to change banks This post has been edited by tinkerbel: Jun 6 2008, 02:13 PM

@jeff_ckf, It costs more to have to issue a cheque to make those payments. Anyhow, I wouldn't call this Free For Life! *grins* Again, another gimmick

I don't think there's a 'normal' limit for CLs. There probably is a maximum but banks usually don't give out that information. I do know for a fact that Citibank does have a max limit on their Clear Cards; RM15k p/month.
As to Gold cards, well, I've been holding onto the DA Graduate Gold Credit Card for years and was given RM10k CL - never used that so didn't bother asking for an increase. HSBC offered me RM13k when I applied with them some time in Jan 08. And for those who'd been here, U'll also know that Citibank upgraded my Clear Card to a Gold card and gave me a measly RM7k credit.

@scoobie27, There should be no hanky panky with the CL Standard Chartered offered. If U need a lot of CL then go ahead and get it. I didn't bother to get an additional CL for DA & HSBC cause those aren't my primary banks. I have since to-date been offered the HSBC Premier Mastercard & Citibank Platinum with both RM40k CL respectively.
To be honest, I don't even need so much CL since I don't travel abroad too frequently.

@scoobie27, If u have been a long standing customer with the bank and have good payment record, I don't think the bank would have problems giving u additional CL - of course the banks will need to take into account making sure U can pay for those payment swiped U could always make the request

Honestly, I don't care about all these status. So as long as the card can be used that's good enough for me

@b00n, I find it weird for people to be upset if banks called them for verification. When I got my 1st credit card, the bank would call for verification when I swiped about RM1k. Now that I've a 'set' pattern, the bank doesn't call me unless it's a much bigger amount; or unless I'm using the card overseas. I just paid for dad's birthday dinner and that cost me slightly over RM1k but I never heard from Citibank. I did however hear from UOB when I was buying tea [I swiped about RM2k+ worth of tea then] @bee993, Yes the banks aren't too consistent about CLs. U can also call MBB to ask them to waive ur annual fee when it's time for U to pay Most of the time [from what I hear] they do waive it for U.

@donpapachino, What kind of rebates do they give? I spend quite a bit on my CC bills but I also make full payment each month - are the rebates for those with outstanding payment or across the board?

@JamesPond, Instead of physically going to the store, Y don't U just pay via ur credit card through Online Banking? Most credit cards would allow such transactions to be made.

@JamesPond, TNB works with Citibank Online & M2U. Am afraid I don't know if TMPoint outlets accept Credit Cards.

@donpapachino, It doesn't look like it's good for me then since rebates given only to outstanding balance. I see no reason in spending more to save some Thanks for the information though.

@vin_ann, I'm still using Citibank cause haven't decided which new bank to move my CC spending too so until I do, I guess I'm gonna remain 'loyal' to Citibank

@navilink, The RM5 is only applicable on the Citibank Choice Card, not the other cards.
I believe U need to be a member for X months otherwise there is some sort of processing fee; ain't quite sure but that's stated in their T&C.

@hye, OT a little.. I pay RM5 p/month on my MBB Premier Account - I am considering putting those funds into this HBSC EasiGrow thing otherwise I might just open the UOB High Yield Account [except I don't have RM300k to begin with! ] Yes Yes... let's keep this back to Credit Cards

@kons, Yes, I'm a HSBC Premier banker but I haven't found out much about this EasiGrow Account so not too sure how it works but if it's in my favour I probably will use that as my primary account and keep a MBB savings account and not their Premier Account. I needed the Premier Account as I wanted the cheque facilities but I don't need it anymore [except I've such a nice MBB Account No. I am reluctant to give it up!]
