i am not the fan of these so called capital protected products, it is only protected when u hold it till maturity, if u have funds that u r not going to use it for the next 4 years, u can go ahead, otherwise u can forget abt it. There are many other investment products with flexible withdrawal and higher return.

Yup, not to mention those balance fund (50% bond, 50% equity) charge the same 5% as same as 100% equity fund. By right, balance fund should (50% x 5% for normal equity fund) + (50% x 1% for bond portion), which should be 3% for balance fund out there.

I generally do not invest in Malaysian mutual funds because the charges (management fee, front-end load) are too high. I rather invest in fixed-price funds (PNB funds) which to me are lower risk, or in foreign-based mutual funds with no front-end/back-end load and low management fee plus performance fee.

One advice " Don follow what ppl have if you cannot afford to and don try to show off if you cannot afford to do so"

I don see you need to spend RM 700 for meal alone....

Lastly you posted on the wrong topic you should ask under personal financial management topic

if my calculation is not wrong, if you invest 3 years in this fund(assuming you did not do DCA). the fund must make 3.63% p.a (not including trustee fee) just to break even at the end of 3 years.

What's the purpose of your savings? FD can be a good place to put in some of your emergency fund but definitely not meant for long term savings (such as retirement funds). If you're looking for a mid to long term saving, why not trying to invest in Unit Trust? Dollar cost averaging will help you to minimize the risk as well. Unit trust may not be the best investment for experienced investors but for those who has little or no experience to invest, a managed investment is a wiser choice.
