Your WDC HDD is known as WD 2.5" 5400RPM Scorpio Blue 250 GB SATA HDD ( WD2500BEVS ). WD2500BEVS-75UST0 type is commonly used in Dell laptop models.

Your missing space in your 250GB HDD, apart from your files, has been used by Media Direct software, which is "possibly" stored in the Host Protected Area (HPA) hidden partition.

Detailed information about your HDD (Japanese Linux website)

If I'm not wrong the screen's uneven illumination problem is quite common with the Dell XPS right ? For me, my right side is quite obviously brighter than the left side.

Well the only bad side about the 9 cell battery is the battery will be bigger right ? Although I would like to have the 9 cell battery but I already have a big made to exactly fit 13.3" widescreen laptops so I think if I were to have the 9 cell battery it won't go in either.

The 9 cell battery will portrude from the rear of your laptop, and cause it to tilt some. I'm using a 6-cell and it fits perfectly.

What I did was ask Dell to give me a normal 6-cell battery (instead of a 9-cell) and use the couple o hundred bucks saved to upgrade HDD and Processor instead! thumbup.gif

hmm, seriously none of you guys ever noticed any slight static or popping sound when you run programs with music playing?

anyway dell should be replacing my system in the next few days, according to the technician that tried to fix my laptop, he's got one case where after replacing, the new laptop gave the exact same problem, and the guy just decided to live with it.......

which is not something that i want to live with, and yet i don't feel like getting a refund...zzz

maybe i should try installing xp and see if there's any difference

Nope because to me I don't really care much on the sound so occasional static sounds and "break offs" isn't really a big issue to me. Also, I think it actually happens to most of the XPS laptops be it the 1330 or 1530. You might contact them to enquire the possible solutions for this and also their recommendation on what to do with it.
