New to the club.... company notebook but considered mine cause it's mine to use and abuse...

C2D T8300, 3GB Ram, 250 HD, 8400M GS Graphics Tuxedo Black XPS M1330!!

I think I purchased a lemon......

Typically when you plug in the AC Adapter into a new laptop, and you press the power button, it switches on right?

Nothing happens on mine.... the AC Adapter light shows power is going to the adapter.....

Tried both... still won't boot up.

Battery's been plugged in for a while now.

I used the same adapter for my other Dell Laptop... it works fine even tho it's a 95W vs 65W (used by old Dell). But when I put it back to the new one, the same new one still doesn't work.... YAY I got a lemon!!!

It's something that turned out to be defective, unsatisfactory. And yes it has been quite unsatisfactory so far... it's got the specs to blow ones mind away and has the reputation to match it, but what's the point of a pc that can't fire up.

Anyway I've wrote their sales team an email. Couldn't contact the Technical Support - offwork hours, email server unavailable... blah blah... same $hit different day.

Dell is gonna replace my laptop with a brand new one. At first they wanted to send a techie over to try to fix it... I was like no way in hell are you gonna open up my laptop, rip out the stuff and fiddle around with it. You wanna play, you get me a new one and you can take this back and dissect it all you like.

Gonna take 2 weeks to replace though.

Finally received my replacement notebook... it boots up and works!!!!

Just formatted the HDD, partitioned it and reinstalling everything now. At least I get to choose what crap I put in and where.

DUmb question... what in the world is the Dell MediaDirect and why do I need it?

I already installed my Windows and stuff... so if this needs to come before that I'll give Media Direct a pass unless it's absolutely critical for my notebook's performance.

The 9 cell battery will portrude from the rear of your laptop, and cause it to tilt some. I'm using a 6-cell and it fits perfectly.

What I did was ask Dell to give me a normal 6-cell battery (instead of a 9-cell) and use the couple o hundred bucks saved to upgrade HDD and Processor instead!

Mine did.

T8300, 250GB HDD, 3GB Ram, 8400M GS, 6 Cell Battery @ 4.1k

Yeap... the palmrests are warm. No complaints about the rest of the unit though.

Last Day for 9 Cell so you might wanna hurry with your decision making.
