i really do not think lucky draw would be a good idea 2 choose teams 2 compete in the qualifier also , if the number of people registering is high , and those good players might really miss out a spot 2 compete.. , after all the point of this qualifier is to choose the "best" to represent the country for acg rite ? well juz my opinion though blush.gif

lol it would be fun to do this lucky draw.

The pros is ppl do not need to worry to come early and afraid that the slot will finish. Everyone can register.

But the cons is it is base on luck. It would be the 1st time such reg method ever implemented.

So whoever have been praying more to God will get the spot. So there will be more ppl goin to mosque, church, temple and etc etc... which is quite good also.. lol

Just maintain the 1st come 1st serve basis. At least it is base on the effort of the player and not purely base on luck.

1 question...for dota after registration/lucky draw then 12.30pm start right? Da tourney need 1 day to finish or 2 day(Sunday)?

About the 1st come 1st serve basis...its not that good. Then maybe that day it will be overcrowded and what if all reach early and all will rush to do the registration..but if lucky draw also not bad..since most of the dota teams are casual gamers(my assumption). But for those team outside of kl/selangor then maybe they wont come lo..

1. All team leaders are to come on 30th May, Friday between 6pm to 7pm to register for their teams
3. All registrants are to come at 11:30am to Plaza Low Yat (Outdoor) on 31st May, Saturday, where we will pick the lucky 15 teams (+1 team last year's champion).

source: http://my.worldcybergames.com/article/read...rs-registration

something to add, shouldnt it be like 32+1 champ for individual?
and 16+1 champ for team?

I'm giving my 2 cents *keeeetcheeeng*

Scrap all this lucky draw or first come first serve BS. Since there are 32 slots, give 16 slots to the best top 16 gamers/teams based on performance in all gaming competition organised by the organiser.

I've stumbled upon a reality show before about a situation similar like this. What the organiser for that event did was having speed rounds to see who can qualify for the slots. Players are required to play their own game with very short time limits to qualify.

Probably that would solve the remaining 16 slots.

If this goes on, we might not have the best player representing our country for AWCG.

OR worse we might see a thread called "<WTAuction> Slot for AWCG" on the day itself.

lol
i kinda speechless, but i think organiser thought is ballot, voting via crowd voice.
I would like to see WTS slot for AWCG itself.
if just based on lucky draw, kinda unfair to all gamers, i do prefer twenty06 advise by given slot to gamers/teams based on performance in all gaming competition organised by the organiser.
or just first come first serve, at least some effort of going early.( where you make a brilliant registration, when ppl compare 2 choices of registration, obviously goes to 1st come 1st serve basis)

but hell, tis is much more funny than i thought, nice 1 organiser, please just go ahead with ballot system, you making my day.

anymore input for organiser guys?

Was planning to stop replying after looking at the "camp out" idea which makes very good sense considering the system we had in place at the beginning.

With this lucky draw idea being brought up , even passion , discipline and determination will not be enough to secure your spot anymore.

Totally agree with twenty06 idea. Let the top 16 of individual and top 8 for Group games in skill be automatically placed in the brackets and let the other half be on first come first serve basis / lucky draw. That way , a balance can be attained between both ideas and the top players will still be representing Malaysia in the end.

For Dota , a simple check on this year's threads of tourneys in this forum can give you a rough idea of who the top 8 is. If you want to save time , just contact me through pm and I will give you a summary of all those results (Yes, I keep them for seeding purposes to advise organisers on seedings on their own tournaments.) and if need be , a recomendation of the 8 teams to be seeded directly into the brackets.

As 1 of the organisers of the of last years ACG qualifiers for Dota , we actually invited teams that has done reasonably well in tourneys to participate in order to save time and to ensure the quality of teams in our limited brackets. We called each team to confirm their participation before entering them into the brackets.

In the end , 15 teams of which half of those are from outstation made it to Cybertime OUG despite the 2 day notice given from us and the winner an almost foregone conclusion. As expected the dominant team of that time, Cybertime 1 (ROA) won in a pulsating final and represented Malaysia to 2nd place in ACG last year.

No complaints were uttered throughout in the whole event because of the diverse teams and fairness in the process of picking the teams that deserved to be there.

Given a chance , we would gladly help out in ensuring the system is implemented again . But since its under the a different management team now, I surely hope that no less effort is being done to ensure the best team represent Malaysia this time and claim that Asian Champion Title which is rightfully ours.
