Is not RM300 for every seller. From suppliers and those people that are seeking quick money, they sell joeys around RM250 coz they want people to see them as the cheapest. Of course once the price like RM250, sure people would buy but they forget one thing, which is that those RM250 joeys or less are normally underage and have a 50% chance of dying.
Petshops are selling them for Rm350 to RM488 for a single joey. They need to make profit to cover expenses and rent, normal lah but bear in mind that there are petshops selling underage joeys and there has been many cases where the joeys die before they reach 1 year old. So when getting from a petshop, research first. How to tell which petshop is good? Well, ask them basic questions. If the petshop cannot answer you, advise you to feed apple, pear and cat/dogfood... then forget it, just walk away. If a petshop say you can use tiny bird cages or hamster cages and use wood shavings, then get out of that shop. Breeders or hobbyist sellers that are ethical would have a price range of RM300 to RM350. This is coz they spend alot of time and effort to care for the gliders. The food and accessory expenses is a bit high when it comes to breeding and caring for a small breeding colony. Normally commercial breeders just use small bird cages and coconut hides for their breeding gliders. Home breeders and hobbyist breeders use large spacious cages, use sleeping pouches, provide a variety of fruits, veggies and glider food mixtures. Commercial breeders would only feed apples and catfood. That is why they can sell joeys at RM200 to Rm250..... but they joeys are normally unhealthy coz not properly weaned. |

Gliders sleep with their ears half relax.... the ears stand up(erect) when they are alert and healthy. Ears that go down means glider is scared or unhealthy. Normally when scared, the ears twitch alot to hear the new sounds but stay low coz scared.... but when sick, the ears don't really twitch and they are not active.

They ban firstly coz it is an exotic species, there may be chances where they can interfere with the natural fauna and flora if released.... but mostly coz exotic species.wanna check cos i'm having nausea with the smell of my suggies.. dun know if it's just me or r they causing it to me.. Nausea from smell... it is coz of the pee lah.... clean your cage often. Best is don't put in your room but put their cage in an open and airy area. All animals carry bacteria but they are harmless. We humans have dunno how many types of bacteria living on our skin, hair, mouth, saliva and in our eyes, but it is all harmless. |

i dunno. some people find their smell nauseatic i think. my older brother complains about the smell and almost vomit when hes in my room while everybody else seems to be fine. Maybe they have a sensitivity towards the smell?
