QUOTE(desireeang @ Apr 29 2008, 11:36 PM) thx so much~~ If the ear has bump at the edge, it could be like what jitshiong suspected, mites. If the ear is chipped off, could be mites infestation or due to injury. It's just our deduction and reasoning afterall and may not necessary be accurate.i'm not sure bout wht happen, her ears r like being chiped off....her ears no longer pointy...when i got her she is normal, but after about a month her ear started to chip off...it has been almost a year i'm keeping her, n i've been looking for help..(i did't know bout this forum) It's never too soon to bring them see the professional docs..it the ears get harden, it can eventually fell off. Just a little info on mite, If it's mites infestation, an external parasite, then treatment with Ivermectin injection at the right dose. Oversose is deadly. And sugar gliders cannot ingest Ivermectin orally. For a 1 kg guinea pig, the dose will be 0.2 mg/kg for mange mite. A very small dosage. The weigh of glider is so much more nominal, it's an extremely fagile tiny critters, so the vet must really excercise prudence for Ivermectin concerned. The vet should know what's best. And, do update us on her progress. Added on May 1, 2008, 9:47 pmA special dinner was made for my gliders. Comprised of Rambutan, strawberries, cherries, blueberries as main ingredients. Rambutan is sweet but rather hard to find these days. Secondary ones were some minor carrots, guava, tomatoes, leafy greens, rice cereal, wheatgerms.. Some eggs will be fine too. Right now, just have some tough time making them comply for the kiwi yogurt. They are just hyper.. This post has been edited by silverwineus: May 2 2008, 10:48 AM |

I prepared eggs too..
I chopped some carrots to tiny bits n mash it up with egg adding 1 teaspoon of strawberry yogurt and some meal worms mashed together with a fork.. yummy~ haha.. if no meal worm i think i would be happy to eat it.. just finish playing with Micah in the room.. letting them roam the room bit by bit daily.. |

Congratz on your new girl.
Really no time to post nowadays. : p First Hun sick now my turn to fall sick. Apalaa.... lol One day need to sit down and read everything then reply. lol About newbies and under aged joeys, When a newbie has not visited and read anything from here or done any research and bought an under aged joey on impulse/pity/(whatever reason he/she buys the joey), we do flame but we still guide them. We do it because we care and the buyer must understand that he/she has just contributed to those breeders that sell mainly for profit, causing more suffering. But when a newbie has already visited and read about under aged joeys, seen the pictures, know who to ask etc, and yet the person still buys an under aged joey. The buyer is just begging glider lovers to flame and shoot at them. I'm not pointing fingers but one of these buyers even commented on a thread to do with under aged joeys. Using 'I'm a newbie in gliders so I dont know' is not an excuse when he/she has already had access to information to do with this. It's the buyers responsibility to do research before considering buying any animal, we have already provided the 'brain food' in the 1st page for you, but don't expect us to spoon feed every detail. That's why a lot of members will say 'Please read the first page'. If we had all the time in the world to slowly repeat answers to the same or similar questions, the 1st page wouldn't exist. But if the questions are not commonly asked enough to appear in the FAQs or the first page, by all means, ask. We will reply when we see it. ------ One more thing about the milk that was brought in. Just because we have prepared milk nutritionally suitable for under aged joeys, does not give anyone an excuse to buy an under aged joey. It was brought in with the intention to help under aged joeys in emergency cases, not to help promote the purchase of them. Even though this milk is formulated for under aged joeys, it is not a perfect substitute for their mother's milk. Our source of glider replacent milk is very limited and I hope glider keepers will appreciate it rather than vice versa. Whether anyone had this intention or not doesn't matter as this is a precautionary warning to anyone that may or may not have such intentions.
