Next time next time, we try and get pet safari to let us have the glider workshop soon.

Oh, just to let people know. There is another forum called Pets Lover Malaysia.... my goodness.... the glider seller, which is also selling in the Garage Sale at LYN gave such a bad bad bad advice to a newbie.

QUOTE
adult sugar gliders will have some smell on them. u can spray water on them and put them under the sunlight for awhile.. at least once a week if u cant stand the smell..

What was she thinking? Gliders are birds? Reptiles? Nocturnal animal and ask people to sun them after hosing them with cold water. INSANE!!!!! People, we must not support such sellers.....

It's sickening. I don't blame the forum... more like the seller for being irresponsible by advising people that way. Summore got "medal" for being good seller. What is the point of being a good seller when cannot advice new owners on the proper ways to keep gliders? I bet she must have told people to use those longish cages or short cages than the proper cages.

QUOTE(ekazakaria @ Jun 3 2008, 06:48 PM)
just my 2 cent...sometimes its for newbie like me, we are so gullible and believe those seller...its not like we don't make research, but when someone introduce us to them and tell they have 'medal' for good seller, you tend to believe what they said..coz information in the net sometimes contradict from each other..so usually we will believe these seller are an expert in SGs...human nature rite? we believe what we hear more than what we read...

luckily for me, i came across Cukin and his Pan..and thats how i know about pet shack, then go to Hun's talk in Petster event, and later this forum..so i have to scrap out lots of information that i got that totally contradict from this forum...
*
Well, what you said is quite true. The seller is more active in the other forum than here. Actually, we also got a "medal" but in the form of a tag. Hard to get the tag, even I also don't have but then my tradelist is long.

Alot of people tend to buy on impulse. You are lucky to meet with Cukin. Thank you for coming to the talk. If you wanna meet up, just let me know and I can bring Keera for you to play with.

Internet got loads of information, but not every information suits Malaysian keepers coz we have little stuff available for gliders, only 2 vets that are able to treat gliders with the little knowledge they have and we don't have proper staple food. So this kinda gave me a goal, to update my Blog everyday with new information that would suit Malaysian keepers.

smile.gif thanks for the offer Hun..and thank you for the info in your blog too..as its hard to track down every discussion in this forum..you guys reply so fast, and its hard though to check this forum everyday to keep up with the info..

luckily my sister are quite free and she spend lots of time to print every relevant info from this forum..
*
Good good, take extra time to research and save up all the info that you feel is needed.

QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ Jun 3 2008, 07:02 PM)
Yes, it's sooo human nature... Even tho research done, they tend to believe more if heard spoken by a seller themselves be it they lie or give wrong info because they think the seller knows best...

But with a lot of research and info in hand, we must trust our gut instinct about whether this seller or seller trustworthy or not.

There are lot of pixs in the net of underaged gliders and stories about wild adult so on and so forth, so if a buyer meets a seller who sells underaged or wild adult shouldn't the buyer know it if the buyer has done some research?

I know it's hard, but research does play an important role as well as being firm and trusting your gut feeling.

I really hope we can educate more and more people about the world today...

*sighhh*

*
Eh, Reanne told me that on Saturday, after the talk. Some lady went to PS and straight away bought a joey! My goodness.... after stressing about underage joeys and how to tell the difference between proper and underage, still beli jugak... sad case.

QUOTE(aurion @ Jun 3 2008, 07:06 PM)
I agree wih you on that. The poor glider will fry under the sun.. They are not dogs or other animals which can be under the sunlight for hours.. even dogs will need to seek shade if it's too hot. Giving unappropriate information to people, that's the last thing a good seller would do especially a seller who loves pets! i'm so put off by the way the seller taught people the method to rid the smell.
*
Yah.... I was shock to see the sunlight part to get rid of smell... ridiculous.

QUOTE(orangecow @ Jun 3 2008, 07:13 PM)
mayb she got medal for sumtin else??

btw, i heard SGs are endangered... true ar?
*
Petaurus Breciveps is not endangered. Other Petaurus gliders are such as the Mahogany Glider is endangered. Google lah, can see in Wikipedia already. If a sugar glider is endangered, why are we keeping it widely and why there is no need for a permit to keep them in Malaysia?

QUOTE(muchan86 @ Jun 3 2008, 07:21 PM)
can bring keera for me to play wif?  drool.gif  drool.gif

*

I may get another Wodent Wheel hahaha... and more bowls.

Well, it depends on your room. You gotta glider proof your room like make sure all holes and openings are closed. No windows open, make sure everything is safe. No chemicals, no insecticide, no poison, no toxic materials.... then is fine. But not every glider can be left alone safely.... always make sure they are under your supervision. If your glider is the type that doesn't cause trouble when it roams about, then you can be a bit more relax about it. Takes time to train.

Hahah... Keera likes to sleep in your hood. Well, if I need a glider sitter next time, I can either find Neshie or Muchan hahaha.

Wodent Wheel, I do need another one soon so Keera can have a go at it. Kiah is doing well, hope to see her bump get bigger.

Oh, I ended that problem by buying a bigger cage ahahah. It was odd to imagine it and I was afraid it won't be stable enough for long term since I got dogs around.

E-collars are for gliders that like to chew and bite themselves or when a glider has gone under the knife and the wound needs to be dry and untouched. That is not a dog collar.

He is a single joey to Naya and Pama. They adore Ringo to bits and would never leave him alone in the bonding pouch. Ringo is still nursing.

When I look at Ringo, I imagine joeys that are about his size, sold at PS.... so sad.... means they are about 3 to 4 weeks old only at those pet shops.... pity pity.

Wah... the last cage setup very dirty and worn out. I thought mine was dirty since I don't use bedding but then I think mine looks very clean now after seeing that cage. The 1st cage is ok, it would be better if it was taller and less wire hanging around.

Oh yah, tomorrow I'm gonna be at Pet Shack till evening lah. Wait for my parents for dinner LOL. So you can play with Kiah tomorrow.

No, they are nocturnal animals. Nature gave them instinct to sleep in the day. How can you change that? It's not like gliders got well developed and evolved brains like humans. Animals sleep and eat by instinct so you cannot change. Like forcing them if you want them to sleep during night. Their eyes cannot take the day time. Their ears, eyes, all built for night.

Sorry for your loss spirit. It has happened already so you can't do much. Just remember, next time make sure you leave your gliders with someone who has experience with them. Family members, normally they are just too excited to play with them.

bugpakoo,
You have been going around to a few threads, spamming but always say sorry for your noobness. Come on, the 1st page got all the answers and still ask how old it can live? And spamming last night with all the shemale nonsense? Please leave this thread as an information and discussion thread. Don't come and put in all your one liners because you are a noob or whatever you call yourself. If you want to learn, GOOGLE is already available for you 24/7 if you take the time to search.

omg .. may she rest in peace ..

p/s: this really worrying me now even more. i dont know why chika have a unique hobby when he's bored.. take a dive in my mug (he dont care what water inside) and inside the 2ft planted tank i have in my room. sigh . lucky the 4ft tank already moved downstairs long time edi .. i know i can close it and i did . but is there any way to teach him that diving in water is bad ?
when it comes with accidental or just plain stupid stuff by other member of the family to ur favourite or loved stuff, no one will admit it . i know .. happened to me so many times edi .. sabar je la ..
tak saba sabar ... lek la emino .. let her calm down and get used to the new environment first.

p/s: am i missing something .. what yogurtees ? haha .. kene google nih . tongue.gif
*
Wah... You punya Chika has an odd hobby. But I think sama with Suiteng's glider also, suka berenang.

We have to take precaution.... coz gliders don't really know how to swim. Some may like the feeling of water so that is why they take a dunk into your cup or tank. Make sure aquariums all got cover lah. Luckily my Keera don't like water, I got a mini newt tank with no cover but the water is only like 2 inches deep.... so no problem if she goes inside.

GliderYOGURTEES, is a glider treat I have finally made. Pet Shack ada but limited hahaha.

QUOTE(Pennywise @ Jun 7 2008, 03:33 AM)
Is it normal if gliders prefer to sleep in the metal bowl more than in the sleeping pouch?

Moka loves mealworms and each time after she eat them, she'd sleep in the same metal bowl. Takkan love until SO MUCH?! When I took out the bowl and sayang her, rub her chin and belly, she's OK.

Luna on the other hand dont like mealworms, even when dipped with slurp. I'm still trying to introduce but so far havent succeed. I took out the sleeping bag and tunnel. She dont go to the hammock but go to the bowl and squeeze in with Moka. Luna is much more crabbier than Moka.
*
Well.... it's not really normal. Some gliders do it coz they fall asleep while eating. Some like the cool feeling of the metal bowl.

If Luna doesn't want mealworms yet, then it is ok. Means she is not ready. Just introduce it everyday. Why not let Luna watch Moka eat one?

my minnie's claw is getting sharper..always get tangle on my shirt..i even tried putting on nail o matic for 3days but its still the same...

i fear 1 day accident will happen, she break her own leg or hand

Trim yourself loh. It's faster.

hi... i newbie here... i also got SG.... when i just loafing around at ikano pet shop,i see hun and fren bringing SG at the shoulder..  notworthy.gif

then she ask me if i hav SG... muhahahaha

she invite me to hear about SG...

ehh hun 1 more thing.. your slurp is very nive lar... my SG love it... when i reheat the slurp all suggies go out and wanna eat it...
*
Ah? Hmmm... which one was you?

Don't need to reheat actually. It's perfectly fine in room temperature or serve cold coz if you reheat in microwave, can actually destroy some of the enzymes in the Slurp.

QUOTE(ReBeLLioN @ Jun 7 2008, 05:27 PM)
how old a for a couple of SG ready for mating?? brows.gif  brows.gif
*
Males sexually mature faster, like 5 to 6 months they would be capable of breeding. Females reach sexually maturity at 7 to 8 months. To breed, it is better if the female is like 1 year old coz by then the female would be fully developed and is healthy and strong for breeding.

QUOTE(Time-Interval @ Jun 8 2008, 12:57 AM)
wanted to know. can sugar glider travelling along with you to foreign country? and isit tht country legal for keeping glider? i meant canada. i'm planning to get one but going to study oversea. erm...
*
If you are gonna go overseas, BIG ADVICE is better not get a glider. It is ILLEGAL in certain states of Canada.
