according to Gizmodo the iphone 3g price is about usd200 if u buy from at&t + contract and if you buy from apple store it was around USD399-499 exc tax.

The 3g iphone will be 22% thinnest from the current iphone.

If that is the case, they should also sell it at apple stores worldwide without the telco contract bs.

They might phased out 8GB and just 16GB and maybe 32GB. Read this and see what we will be miss out as being a first gen user:

but i'm afraid if the small screen version is true, then typing on the virtual keyboard will be not as easy as on the current gen. yeah imagine cramping all the keys on a smaller screen. mmm...unless it comes with a slide keyboard.
btw, i think it does look fake though. look at the position of the home button. looks like maybe this is for an iClone.
