QUOTE(yogabest @ May 29 2008, 11:21 PM) http://www.modmyifone.com/forums/news/1665...e-june-9th.html been hiding in the cave too long ? lol .. no hard feeling but this is "old" news3G iphone on JUNE???? We've had rumors, rumors, and more rumors, but now "someone very, very close to the 3G iPhone launch" has confirmed the 3G iPhone will be released June 9th at the WWDC Keynote. International users will have the phone within a few weeks of the US launch - not the previously rumored end of '08. Also notable, the iPhone will (at least in some countries) NOT be selling at a fixed price anymore, which means end users can get discounts based on signing contracts, adding data plans, etc. This is a good thing for those of you signing up with the Apple-sponsored carrier, but not so good news for us rebels (gotta have my T-Mo ). No word on how the Apple stores will be handling the fixed price vs subsidization pricing, but perhaps they'll have a set price, and AT&T will offer some sort of rebate with proof of activation. That is IF Apple carries the non-standard pricing to the States. Those of wanting to jailbreak/unlock the 3G iPhone need not worry - it looks like the launch of it will coincide with the 2.0 firmware, which hints it will be running said firmware. And 2.0 is already jailbroken/unlocked. A 3G modem may necessitate a fix on the unlock to work, but shouldn't be a major hurdle. Mod on, good people. via Gizmodo |

QUOTE(ronasdfghjklzxc @ Jun 11 2008, 05:43 PM) Dude, you sure about this? I mean about the ETF value and all? $494 is still below RM2K, that's quite a relief. $494 x 3.2 (*assumption exchange rate at 3.2) = 1580 +-previous iphone .. profit margin is about RM400-500, take in consideration that iphone was easily obtain by store purchase current 3G Iphone ... hard to get from store ..... therefore might need insider to do the work .. that will cost money and at the end .. you still can't get the same price for current 3G ...at say RM1900(*with same profit margin*) |

QUOTE(mangoman @ Jul 10 2008, 09:58 AM) A special thanks to commenter "tamade" for pointing out the obvious. Since AT&T's unlocked iPhone 3Gs will cost you $599 (8GB) or $699 (16GB), you are better off signing a contract and canceling it than buying an unlocked iPhone. In fact, it's even cheaper to buy a 16GB iPhone using this method than to buy and unlock an 8GB version. But math isn't our strong suit so go ahead and double-check our calculations. We won't be offended: that only can be applied to a person in that country ... not even if they are there for holiday ..$299 - 16GB iPhone w/contract $36 - Activation $175 - Early Termination Fee $70 - One month of service Total Price Using The Shady Method: $580 So... 8GB iPhone Canceled: $480 16GB iPhone Canceled: $580 8GB iPhone Unlocked from AT&T: $599 16GB iPhone Unlocked from AT&T: $699 http://gizmodo.com/5021186/dont-buy-an-unl...-a-new-contract those with contract most probably need some sort of permenant address and such before they let you sign a contract. |
