@ fuiyo

install bosspref. works like a charm.

please bear in mind, despite keying in "nonsense" there, data can sometimes still be retrieved or sent. i have tested this on numerous occasions.

nokia2003 is right. There's a 3G icon in Cydia. Download this "3G Edge Icons" created by Ravishan.

No the icon is different from Apple's 3G icon.

Sorry mate.. miss reading that you wanted the exact 3G symbol. That's the only nicer looking 3G icon in Cydia as i have look thru the whole list of Cydia apps.

Guys, just an update on security hole found on firmware 2.0 and above. If you're the one that always enter a pin code every time you turn on or Slide To Unlock, you might think that it's secure and if someone steals your phone then they're not gonna get anything out of it but that's gonna change.

Here's how the flaw works:

1)Slide To Unlock
2)When in keypad, tap on Emergency Call
3)Double click the Home button

If you set your iPhone to Favorites every time you double click the Home button, then you're gonna get to Favorites bypassing the need of entering a code. Some of your contacts information might have phone number, location address, e-mail address, website link and so on. So when you tap on one of the them, iPhone will launch the specific application, again bypassing the need of entering a code and potentially dangerous if unknown people knows your private information.

Hopefully firmware 2.1 update will have to fix this flaw as it might hurt the enterprise feature and users privacy, but for now just set your Double Click options to either Home or iPod. So when you're on Emergency Call and you double click the Home button, you're not getting in to any menus. Take the greatest care of your iPhone! smile.gif

Just changed my double click to Home Button and it does not bypass the Passcode Lock now.
Great note to share with everyone!
Thanks Mike3300.

Hey great, does that mean 2.0.2 can be unlocked and jailbreak on 2G Iphones now?

Just updated to 2.0.1 FW yesterday, and its pretty laggy compared to 1.1.4 ohmy.gif

Most certainly you can but do read this before you plan to upgrade to fw 2.0.2

Read post 37

As fw 2.0.1, all ok here. Only slight lag in Cydia while doing a search.

1 thing about 2.0.1 is that accelerometer function in ipod isn`t as good and sleek as 1.1.4, turning iphone to 180 degrees then 360 doesn`t rotates the screen, u have to go back to 90 then turn to the other 180 to have it rotate that way

2.0.2 still have the loop hole as mentioned by mike3300

I took the files out from iPhone3G.

Unzip the attached file, 2 files

FSO_UMTS_ON.png
Default_UMTS_on.png

Renama to

FSO_EDGE_ON.png
Default_EDGE_ON.png

WinSCP to your iphone, and go to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app
make a backup of the 2 files, then overwrite.

Then when iphone detect "Edge" network, the logo will the 3G logo, same as the one on iPhone3G.
