hi all, i think some of u might remember me, especially 7chai (coz i played him last saturday during pre release). I just started to play magic again last week (prerelease) after stopped since National 2006.

Wanna look for members from cheras area to form a team to draft n play testing.....hehe...
I am not in Cheras, but if Hari is going, I will definitely tag along. Can I suggest somewhere in Cheras LeisureMall?

I'm interested in the draft and I would opt for Leisure Mall (as it is nearer for me), but I might not be a regular.

Yes until 2nd of May when official release of Shadowmoor.

After official release, all prices go to RM10. Right now we're clearing all the stock we bought from Pre-release. Stock selling fast as we already have 56 packs reserved for drafts...

While I must say price competition among retailers is a good thing for us players, I believe the profit margin for MTG products is slim as it is. If you're willing to sell the packs at $9, you can just sell them at $10 each and throw in a free booster for every 10 boosters they buy. Or that is not allowed as well?

Option A - Player has the option to buy stock at RM9 each.

Option B - Player would like to ask the shop if they could buy 10 boosters @ RM10 each, and get a booster thrown in for free.

Hmm... methinks most people will opt for Option A.

If a shop were to offer both options, I am 99% sure that 99% of people will opt for Option A. Let's see how many people come to CCE Games this weekend and ask for Option B.

Seriously, we need realistic suggestions from people... not economically-infeasible-and-illogical suggestions, which is what retep's suggestion is.

CCE Games is superbly excellent, with a great customer base, and certainly the best marketing skills around.

Anyway, I have a tip for CCE Games. (Pang Ming, you guys should consider this...) This was a ploy long ago employed by Phileo Allied Securities before it got swallowed by Southern. When they were trying to gain a foothold in the securities brokerage business, they basically employed a rebate / reward system. During those times, competition among brokerages was fierce but commission rates were heavily regulated.

What did Phileo Allied do to emerge as a top player in the industry? Apart from being the first online broking house, they offered a rebate / reward system tied directly to the value of trades. Thus, they were effectively offering a discount. They were not allowed to offer a discounted brokerage (prohibited by law) but this system was permissible and helped cement their lead.

The corollary is a retailer offering RM10 a booster, but tracking purchases by customer. End of the month, this lovely retailer can declare a random rebate / reward system for RM[X] for each of its customers at the end of the month, which voila, amazingly and coincidentally works out to a RM1 a booster discount at the end of the month.

As a player, I'd happily forego receiving a RM1 discount at the point of purchase for an RM1 "gift" voucher that I can receive at the end of the month. nod.gif

Isn't it lovely what the world of business teaches us?

p.s. as a postscript, the discount could also be scaled... maybe 1st 10 boosters @ RM0.50 "gift" award per booster purchased, more than 10, RM1 "gift" award per booster purchased...

Shadowmoor Drafts @ CCE Games this Saturday (26/4/2008)

Start time: 2pm for 1st pod
Venue: CCE Games

Pods will start as soon as they are filled, and we'll keep doing pods so long as there's product (Think Hari and I are not going anywhere that Saturday so we'll keep rejoining pods, plus we got a new player from PwC who will also be joining, so will be in all the pods).

P.S. Poker session tonight, for those who are interested. PM for venue (so no Shadowmoor Draft tonight).

Nice idea Mark, but i think its gonna be a major paperwork headache if we had to track sales for each individual customer.

Buts its something to work on.
