Confirm. they will block throttle one day.

talks to a senior technician on that day. All the hardware is ready for throttling.

I asked why they bought a hardware that able to throttle. they told me, all / most hardware are come with throttle enable nowadays.

For Free Usage Policy, once you have reached the allowable threshold, your bandwidth will be throttled (if you subscribe 1Mbps, maybe you will only be getting 500kbps for example).

Please define "overselling their network capacity"?

Do you really think if one basestation can support 35Mbps, meaning they can only sell to 35 subcribers (1 Mbps per person)? That's not how things work when you are paying less than RM100 per month for your internet.

Usually ISP will oversell by a factor of 30-40 in a heavy usage area and 50-60 in low usage area. It's very common and it's been happening out there for more than a decade.

I'm sure P1 will oversell their network capacity and so is all other ISP in all around the world, you name it ... (insider and outsider news >>> common sense)

I think what most of us is wondering here is whether P1 will eventually oversell excessively like TM Streamyx.

It's not whether the ISP will oversell or not ... it's whether the ISP will take any action if their bandwidth is oversell excessively? ISP will always have a threshold figure when they will need to perform upgrade on their system to support higher capacity when the figure is met. If the ISP ignores it, that's when hell breaks lose. TM is using ways to throttle the bandwidth as much as they can, only if still the bandwidth is insufficient, they will trigger the upgrade. This is what most people are experiencing now, the next phase of bandwidth throttling --> http throttling, TM did P2P throttling and yet their problem still can't be resolved, now they are moving one step further.

The reason behind is that TM probably sees that our International traffic are extremely high as compared to local traffic, so increasing the pipe for users will not solve their problem and they will definitely not gaining profit if this persist. And, so throttling kicks in.

So, try not to compare with US, HK, China, Korea, UK etc countries with Malaysia ISP providers cause different countries will have different user behaviors ... I'm a user myself and i hate my download is being throttled sigh ...

Bad thing about Malaysia is that we are not able to retain users to our own country websites. Why people go to facebook while we have our own community portal? Why people go youtube ... why we don't have our own video portal? Don't talk about p2p, it's illegal anyway, but if possible why can't we have one of our own?

Hello, just want to acquire some information. I'm currently living at Bandar Kinrara, Puchong, Selangor. I was checking the P1 W1MAX website for their coverage, but upon checking I could not find my location on any of the list given there.

My question is, does this mean I won't be able to use/enjoy W1MAX?

I think AMAX is covering there now. Both AMAX and P1 W1MAX are expanding their coverage, so sooner or later your location will be covered (as in mobile coverage). But when will it be available, you will have to ask their customer care (if they know).

For your all information, from 20 August 2008 I have received the call that they will send me the modem. Until now still the bulls..t
I registred on the time of KLCC PIKON Convention Center Fair till now....
Every time i call, they keep ask my phone, name, address and said next 3 day they will send.
Have how many 3 day to delay?
They no take serious about the business.

now they are terminate all call that conect technical department
and give pig incharge.

20GB limitation... hmm... need to think about that 1st b4 i cancel my screamyx... although the speed is lots faster.. but still... wait for some feedback b4 subscribe... just like Izzi... they promise fast speed.. but who knows.. they even slower than screamyx... Slow and Steady

I'm rather skeptical on Amax since they're a really new player and I've not heard of their background in broadband. Nonetheless, it'll be good to know what kinda packages and level of customer service can they offer. smile.gif

I don't want to call the customer careline or their office number ...

I think it's rather annoying for you to wait and call and wait. I think better move on then keep on waiting, when they deliver you the CPE, you just say don't want and let them dulan la tongue.gif

well i just sign up with P1 yesterday. Still waiting for the activation. Should be able to know today. However when they came over to my place to do a demo, speed was around 1500++kbps and according to him its a 1.2Mb package. My area is just outside of the coverage area in sentul. Even with an Amber light they was able to get around 1500. So i am hopping this will be a good start after the Izzi debacle,
