QUOTE(Nekochan @ Nov 24 2008, 08:13 PM) Haha the 3 months holiday can do wonders eh? Hehe. I guess we can't have that in the new course structure. BTW, do you rely more on lecturer note or books in your study Akane? Lol. I bet during my 3 year of studies, I rely a lot on both lecture notes and textbooks. Wikipedia is one of my best friend, but it isnt reliable at times. But at least, wikipedia can give you some general understanding on most stuff. If you are in Bioscience, prepare yourself mentally to read journals for more realiable info. This apply when you have to do weekly lab reports. Some textbook will be very useful, such as Biochemistry textbook. Get a good one, I forgotten the name la, but will post it out once I check it out. Can be used from Year 1 to Year 3. Core subject normally will require a textbook as the lecturer will not be able to teach everything to you. You will need to have self initiative to read it yourself, especially when exam is near QUOTE(Dr@gon @ Nov 25 2008, 02:49 PM) Not sure about the otehr campuses but here in the Kamapr campus, students have to pay to use the courts in the sport complex while we can use TARC's one or the one in a nearby town for free. Lol. I pay everytime I use TARC facilities. I dont see a problem to that. Vandalism is a serious matter, and they have their rights to charge the student, so that they can use the fees to bear the maintenance cost. |

That was how we did it in form 6 and it sucks. The lab reports might be group during the first sem or two, but will definitely change to individual report. It depends on the lecturer, though it will end up being invidivial reports after awhile. They're better for you actually, wont have the risk of other ppl messing up ur coursework marks. While doing lab reports, are you supposed to do it in the lab and hand it on the same day? Haha. Interesting. Kiasu first sem students. I have a feeling I'd be one too. Then everything shall cease slowly by the end of the semester.
By the way, would you guys be given a detailed syllabus at the start of every semester or you'd just have to sit and wait for what the lecturer would teach? Or do you have to find for it yourselves online/library/other forms of resources? [See, going "kiasu" already Thanks a lot for all the infos. It has been really really helpful. Ermm.. I am also ex-utarian..
as you compare the others uni, utar fees is already much more cheaper.. so u cant blame for the facilities instead... I am from PJ utar... and I can tell you that... there is no facilities at all for student.. No car park... everyday also get samman because you got to double park your car... no convenient public transport.. no nice food around the area and yet expensive... wat I think for lecturer is ok ok la... some really put efford to teach you wat they know ... and some is juz come and earn money only.... But I think lecturer in UTAR is not that cruel to push you to die... Staff in Utar is the best things... they think they are doing high pose job.... very very lansi .... you ask them things.. and if they are in good mood.. they will softly reply u ... but if they are in bad mood... u will bom into thousand pieces... shout infront of many ppl... make u so damn malu... feel free to ask me more... haha |

And report is the medium where lecturer gets to know student better. Start to learn how to do proper referencing, how to get info and time management. Haha. It will be crazy when you have to submit 3-4 reports weekly. Haha. While doing lab reports, are you supposed to do it in the lab and hand it on the same day? Once you get your ID and you can try to log-in into the UTAR Intranet. From there, you can check your syallabus and most of the time there are some reference books below that list. Those are the books where the lecturer refer to, and students are normally encouraged to purchased or borrow those books.
