i think casio CDP-100 could be had for RM1900 or less
it's full size weighted (slightly light touch though), 88 keys

so it depends on your budget. if you can stretch a bit, I recommend Korg SP250, RM2700 or less (after discount).

a Korg SP250 originally retails for US$800 overseas, a Yamaha P70 about $600, but in Malaysia, P70 sells for RM2500 and above. so SP250 is the best value budget digital piano

so ummm.... is KORG weighted? also... i don't use the functions like digital pianos have just want to learn some basic piano songs..... i'll take a look at the KORG ^^ thanks

@moyong: if you're not a seasoned pianist/keyboardist, or rather just a beginner wanting to learn to play, i suggest you get a midi-keyboard... there's a variety of midi-keyboards to choose from. and if u must, there's also 88-key ones, m-audio keystation 88es (approx rm900). hook it up to your pc and with some freeware vsti, you can get the same learning experience. once you're good, then you can consider to upgrade.

the thing is, you need a PC/laptop to do so, and a set of speakers. there're also latency, digital audio workstation. then the knowledge of being able to use the software and troubleshoot if anything goes wrong.

for a beginner, it'll be way overwhelm to learn such thing. stick to those keyboards with speakers, or digital pianos.

ice, there's pretty much high chances that he/she has a computer and some multimedia speaker. if u talk about latency, i don't think he would really mind that lil bit of milisecond latency and taking a day or two to get a freeware sequencer setup and load in a couple of freeware vst. after all, he should be ready for a learning experience since he's wanting to learn to play songs, a lil detour shouldn't be a show stopper. anyway, this is just my opinion, wouldn't wanna waste my time either debating on this.

thats why im considering to get a new 1..... umm about the midi keyboard thingy. it do not have a nice speaker only those cheap RM20 speakers (kinda lame right).

i'll consider casio and KORG.... any place to recommend to get one of these?

moyong, u get korg sp250 at CKMusic Jalan Imbi. they are the distributor also. i got it after discount RM2700. u might be able to get less.

somebody in lowyat will sell it at RM2600, but you have to pay full first before getting the item, personally I don't know if I can trust that kind of deal.

Wow!! Exellent! rclxms.gif
How I wish I could play such beautiful rhythms by the keys too.. sad.gif
But I know nothing about it.. Because my stingy dad just doesn't want to sponsor me to attend classes nor buying a piano/keyboard for me.. cry.gif
And I just got a job recently, finally be able to buy a keyboard for myself and cover the keyboard's class fees.. rclxm9.gif
So could anyone here teach me how should I start my keyboardist journey please? notworthy.gif
Should I buy a keyboard first? Then which model is suitable for a beginner like me?
I'm already 20 years old hope is not too late.. sad.gif
I would like to play more variety music not only classical piano and my budget is not over 3k..
Or should I find a teacher first?
Please give me some advice thank you.. biggrin.gif

fishysashimi, get a Korg SP250 from CKMusic Jln Imbi. RM2700 or less after discount

when u start piano class, u'll be able to choose either classical, pop or jazz

with classical u will have the skills in reading music. with jazz u will have the skills to write music

and for music lessons, find a teacher that gives u at least 1 hour per lesson. many schools now only gives you 30 minutes, which is NONSENSE

Korg SP250 seems not much function can play.. hmm.gif
I thought Yamaha sounds nicer?
Does Jazz class teach me to play guitars sounds, drum sounds, organ sounds or fluet sounds by keyboard too?
Have classes more than 1 hour? laugh.gif
