moyong, if im not mistaken, yamaha lessons now only 30 minutes?

should be around RM80 for beginner.

look for 1hour-per-session lessons

and if u decide to choose a yamaha school, make sure you choose the day of week where there are less holidays. they don't ganti lesson if it falls on a holiday.

anyway, i "prefer to recommend" private teachers. look in newspapers

yamaha individual lessons are expensive. beginner individual piano lesson is RM110 for beginner, 30mins per week. however, you're paying for the management and the environment. whether it's worth it or not, it's up to your decision. my opinion is, getting a good teacher is priceless. if you happened to find a good teacher at yamaha, just stick with it.

by the way fishy, didn't know you actually shoot photos for advertisements lol.

i believe they're still around, but i won't recommend it and that's just me.

basically, it teach you how to listen and play it out, or play independent from music scores/books, or simply learn by your ear. however, that still won't work if you don't have fundamental knowledges on music. play by ear is basically like listening and speaking in a language class, and work much less on paper works like writings and comprehensions.

however, that said, if you'd like to just play for fun, then it might be the one for you. problem with play by ear, IMHO, is that they teach very casually. you'll find having problem to play flashy stuffs because the lack of proper teachniques and understanding about music theory.

now, i might be wrong with the above statements, simply because i don't know anything about Play By Ear course. i only saw those Play By Ear concerts uploaded on youtube, and judge by how they play. isn't it the result that matters? wink.gif

finding private teacher can be real hard, unless you have through someone's contact, anyone having any? I was still reluctant to sign up for piano course in most centers, some teachers when i look at her I dont felt convinced to be taught by him/her. I used to have like hmm, 3 piano teachers before..

i agre with little ice, i dont agree with it.
Nobody really taught me to play by ear, but it camed naturally.

After many many many years of piano lessons, extensive amount of theory, and Yamaha courses too, i was able to play by ear.
But not just buta buta play, but understanding each chord, structure, cadence, progression, everything.
Well, im not saying im a pro, but once u get the fundemental/basic down, u will enventually understand the deep concept of playing by ear.

When u go for their short courses, Yes, u can play by ear, but for a limited kind of song, and understand of nothing bout the chords, key, progress, the why's, and everything.

Well, that's just me XD

If you cannot reach it, do not play the three notes at the same time. Just play it separately with the aid of your wrist but in time.
